Ultrawide fix for Black Bars Removal v2 in Death Stranding
Software Requirements:
1.HxD


Tutorial:
1. Open Program HxD > Click File and Open ds.exe
2. Ctrl+R > Click "Hex-values" > Click Search Direction "All" > Write 55 55 15 40 in Search for,
3. Replace with Hex value of your Resolution's Aspect Ratio , Here are some common resolutions:

2560x1080 = 26 B4 17 40
3440x1440 = 8E E3 18 40
3840x1080 = 39 8E 63 40
3840x1440 = AB AA 2A 40
3840x1600 = 9A 99 19 40
3840x1620 = 26 B4 17 40
5120x1440 = 39 8E 63 40
5120x2160 = 26 B4 17 40
6880x2880 = 8E E3 18 40


4. Click Replace All

5. Save and play

Modify the game executable to force any aspect ratio

1.Open <path-to-game>\ds.exe in a hex editor (e.g. HxD https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/).
2.Search for 55 55 15 40 as hex.
3.Replace it with 26 B4 17 40 (for 2560x1080)
other aspect ratio's in hex
5:4 = 00 00 A0 3F
4:3 = AB AA AA 3F
3:2 = 00 00 C0 3F
16:10 = CD CC CC 3F
15:9 = 55 55 D5 3F
16:9 = 39 8E E3 3F
1.85:1 = CD CC EC 3F
2.39:1 = C3 F5 18 40
2.76:1 = D7 A3 30 40
3x5:4 = 00 00 70 40
3x4:3 = 00 00 80 40
3x16:10 = 9A 99 99 40

5.Run the game and select the 21:9 aspect ratio in the Graphics settings menu.

Digital Foundry said that the game supports only standard resolutions e.g. you won't be able to set 1800р or 1620р, so maybe that's the case and I'll have to wait for the patch

But this won’t work for cutscenes, right?

I would love to play in 5120x1440, but I guess it cuts (lol) away from the cut scenes and to me, these are very important.
