There's 3 maps. First one can be traversed in 30 minutes roughly. The main central map takes approx an hour to walk across. The last map is the smallest of the three which iv'e not timed myself doing yet, maybe later tonight if i can unlock it on my latest playthrough.
Obviously these are rough, it totally depends on the route you take..
But....isnt the whole map connected? Are there load screens between the sections?

No it isnt one big map, its like mgs5, big separate maps
Ouch...
You start off in the eastern section and work your way through central to the western edge within the story mode. Story Cutscene's move you through each.
That is really bad to me. Didn"t expect. Im not sure to buy now. It breaks the immersion.

You can turn back to the old places that You havent finished. So You are not locked out of the zones. Map should be bigger than in Zelda BotW or in Witcher 3. Anyway, the story takes 40 hours of gameplay, side missions etc. to 60 hours and If You want to do EVERYTHING, it takes 100h +, side missions are endless.

To be honest the story is really good, i thought so anyway. As i was so tuned into it, moving maps that way didn't faze me. It might be a different experience for yourself though.
U mean...once u pass the story cinematic you have the whole map connected?
Or you turn back via loading screen too?

It's smaller then those games you had listed since the World on it's own is more compact and not wasting your time with empty regions that are filled with meaning less ground to explore as for example Odyssey had a lot where forests were too many times just put into the Game per Copy & Paste to increase their size by just turning them in an 90° and adding the same military base at some corner.

Death Stranding is less an "Explorer Game" and instead an "Find a way to go from A -> B" Genre Mix that later on does transfer slowly over time into an "Use your Tech to make your Life easier" if you are up to the task while at the same time telling it's story the further you move forward in the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 had a lot of empty Regions that were only in the game because of the Online Mode that you didn't encountered at all in the Single Player Mode since it did fit overall the Game (as already had too in the Sequel that was released for PlayStation 4/Xbox 360 & Xbox One) and Skyrim and Oblivion had those Copy & Paste Dungeons where you encountered the same parts over and over again and...just to make the Ggame look bigger then it actually was.

You won't encounter that kind of time wasting in Death Stranding if you follow the story and always listening very carefully to the mission briefings and/or read very carefully the mission description that sometimes might give you an direct hint where you have to go if it isn't clear from the first moment.

Also don't forget that Horizon Zero Dawn Complete on Steams comes with the DLC Content that added another biggger region to the Game and on top of that the game has those Dungeons that add too to the map size to the game.

Overall i would say that Death Stranding is an classic Road Movie Game where your travels through the different regions and your own (or your friends) struggle in life are an metaphor for life in general and how to manage/deal with issues that might seem at the beginning too much for someone on their own to handle and how to find a way to "Keep on keeping on!".

You are able to access the whole map once the story is completed. Travel between each section is done by the map screen and yes a loading screen IIRC.

And there are different biomes? I mean...are there forests? I know there are snowy mountains.

Its all of the map a dark place?
Yes there are various forms of biomes. frozen peaks, temperate areas etc etc. Its not all dark no, only in small areas that are part of the story or due to special events, i cant say more due to spoilers :)
