I just saw the official reply on Twitter that the game can be pre-downloaded 48 hours before the launch.

How do you get this pre-load to work?

Do you just pre-order the game and it will auto install or is there a setting in the steam UI that must be changed?

I don't think it will auto install, there's should be an option "preload now" on store page on 12th july

I'm gonna buy for sure but I'm not pre-loading. For some reason unpacking and installing takes forever, usually longer than just downloading the game after it's unlocked.

it doesn't auto install. when it's available, you'll get an option to preload "encrypted" files on the game page.  I would not recommend preloading if you have a decent internet because downloading the full game on release is faster than decrypting/unpacking preloaded files.
