So anyone who criticises the game is a hater?

Duhhhhh if you are not with them then you are a hater troll against them....
pretty accurate, I suffered through the whole thing just to see if it ever got better.
Maybe it was too complicated for my basic brain though, Most kojima fanboys just call me stupid if I ever act like I'm frustrated by a walking simulator disguised as something deep and moving.
Anyway thanks for the opinions guys, i probably won't buy it on release mainly because i'm not even sure what type of game i'm buying and from the gameplay it doesn't look that good.
It's a "STRAND" genre game wich can be defined as a fetching quest game, some people call it a walking simulator but it's actually just a fetching quest.
You can see what a STRAND game is by trying this game:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1201840/MAN_STANDING/
So without spoiling you'll deliver from point A to point B, build stuff that mostly focus on delivering, combat is pretty generic and clunky but combat is not the focus of the game. There is no real multiplayer mode too so 60$ for such game is pretty expensive nowadays, usually it's big IP triple A games that does this like Resident evil 2 remake or Devil May cry 5, COD I think (I don't play a lot of FPS game), and others.
One quick note about MAN STANDING: It only shows the core gameplay of a STRAND game, so it doesn't have vehicles or structure you can build to deliver faster and no character progression that again focus on delivering faster. If you don't want to test MAN STANDING then imagine PAPER BOY with a story with cutscenes that can last 2 hours in some cases, open world and you can upgrade your bike and build stuff to deliver more stuff and/or do that faster.
I hope that I have answered your question.
The story is quite interesting, very original and very Kojima. It was the only thing that kept me going, but I had to give up around halfway through the second map because the game play infuriated me. Even when you get the bike, which trivialises the whole delivery mechanic with the introduction of highways, the game feels like its going at 2mph. Most of the items players can build are useless. I have only ever found a single charging rod beneficial to me. The same goes with player emotes and messages- they just amount to pointless graphics which trigger a sentence of dialogue. The same also goes for player dropped ladders and rope. You always carry enough to get you through the path. The 'car' vehicle is cool, but again it just makes the core mechanic of the game pointless because you can fit so much inside and cart it around highways in like 5 minutes.
The game presents no challenge. I have put like 60 hours into this game and I have not died once, and I have only been caught by BT's around 4 times. I killed one of the mini-bosses, but after I found out I can just run away from them I stopped bothering. That really sums up my experience with this game. I just stopped bothering. In the second map there are around 3 decently sized MULE camps. But taking them on is so easy. I was almost at my limit in regards to cargo, so my movement was unreliable and I was prone to falling over if I moved too fast, and I solo'd all of the MULE camps without being knocked out and my cargo stolen. All it takes to completely take out a full camp of MULES is a single Bola Gun and all of its 15 bullets. Thats it. 15 bullets. Once they are tangled up you just stand on their head and they are down. Navigating the landscape isn't a challenge either.
Whilst the map is beautiful, I don't know why Kojima chose to have the game take place in 'all' of the US. And by 'all', well lets just say this game thinks that basically the entire mid-western section of the US takes about 10 minutes to cross on a motorbike. For a game that wants to immerse you, it really drops the ball on this aspect. I'm not saying that we should be able to play an entire realistically sized US, but how they chose to scale this game sucks.
There isn't a lot I actually like about Death Stranding. There were two or three moments when you come round a corner and see this massive beautiful vista open up and have a nice song play during it which I really enjoyed playing it- and I am sure people know what I am talking about. But the game plays itself and has no challenge to it. Its like they are overloading you on visuals and buzzwords containing the word 'chiral' so you don't actually see the game for what it actually is; a boring walking simulator sprinkled with (at the most) 4 points of levity. Kojimas name on the poster doesn't make it good enough. And it was truly a sad moment when I realised a game I had waited for since 2016 turned into such a drab, pretentious chore.
Also the physics and driving in this game are worse than Big Rigs. Watch anyone try and drive a bike, let alone off road. Just like in Big Rigs, where the vehicles are stuck to the ground, the bikes in these are the same. You drive over a rock at speed and the tyre just traces the surface of it without lifting off the ground. Good luck trying to get your bike through anything that isn't concrete or grass because you will crash into the smallest pile of dirt every 0.3 milliseconds.
As someone who absolutely loved this game, lemme explain... it's a "Dad Game with a Story."
It's the most high-budgeted version of those "____ Simulator" games you see where you do everyday stuff but in weirdly precise ways, but with a plot that's odd sometimes, very interesting and fun other times, and then skull-crushingly annoying probably the other 50%. (I loved it the story too, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ needs to stop pushing the same point over and over)
Also, it's like Kojima heard of the term "walking simulator" and without doing any homework decided to make a game that simulates walking and built an entire game on that concept. He's an odd duck, but all hype and hate about him are overrated. Just go for the ride, imo. He's not for mass consumption, but he's not a pretentious "artsy fartsy" guy. He's just a dork that's putting his weird ideas in games and seems to be enjoying it. I can respect that.
The game makes you struggle first so that you can appreciate it when things get easier.
The core gameplay never change: It's all about delivering stuff wich is very boring.
