There is another way, using coup-de-grace with a melee user. It is one of your abilities where you basically execute a vulnerable enemy, which they are when in the downed state.
i *think* there's an upper limit to how much damage they can take at once as well, so if you hit them hard enough, they'll just die. There's also one that you can question after you down him, then decide to let him live or die. if you let him live, he'll stay down, but your dialogue box will be filled with messages about him regenerating.
It is actually scaled for later game and not needed to be done in act 3, even tho the game makes it look like you should do it early on. It is a tough dungeon, good luck in there!
And you get shock longswords and gloves that give lightning spells to spontaneous casters. It is shocking the way they keep the one thing they are vulnerable to handy for any attackers to find.
u get 2 wands at the start of the zone
you can inspect enemy and if you do , you will see that game tells you that their regen will be beaten with lightning
They can still die to abilities that can instantly kill an enemy, like Coup de Grace, or to ability damage if you drop one of their stats below 0.
