Marksmen or Headhunters?
Headhunters seem stronger but you have to deal with low number. Thoughts?

rangers seemed to be on the weak side damage output wise honestly.

i took marksman and they completly wreck all enemies

Put your infantry in front of your archer and marilith won't hit them. As for an ennemy commander, he can't cast spell if his army is destroy. The quicker you destroy it, the less he will cast and the less you will took damage. A stack of marksmen can kill almost all ennemy stack in ennemy army of equivalent power with one attack. So with marksmen, you will took very few fireball. The few death can be healed with the infirmery or healing spell/ability.
So in my opinion, marksmen are the best. I think offense is the best defense in the Crusade mod.
Mongrel archers are stupidly strong
Marksmen at first were thought poorly in my army.

Then i saw that they 1st shot almost everything except lilitu.

Then they started to do 20k damage per round, multiple times.

Then now they do 50k 3 times per round, first strike.

Moooonster kill.

Between those 2, I would pick Marksmen without a blink

But like another person above said I picked rangers because they can take a hit and can attack while someone is attacking them in melee. They are also a bit more durable if an enemy general casts firaballs on them

That said, if you go pure offense you can kill everything within a few turns so they are almost never at risk .

Personally I "grow" rangers and buy marksmen from mercs. So I use both with 5 more units. You can also pick headhunters and go 3-4
