Is Galfrey "triflin"? (Spoilers likely)
I'm closing on the end of Act IV and I have wondered this since the end of Act III, but is Queen Galfrey, the oh most highly exalted and righteous paladin of Iomedae, a lousy jealous douchebag? I mean, does she send the PC to the Abyss to once again regain her public image as The One True Hope For the Crusaders? Or is she sincere about the PC ending the threat of the Nahyndrian Crystals?

Honestly? I think it's some level of both. She IS kind of bothered that after more than a century of hard work, someone else suddenly has all the attention and success and accolades. ...But she's also a Lawful Good person, recognizes and regrets her failings, and apologizes when she's wrong. She's good enough to never STOP being a Paladin, which does have fairly strict requirements. And even if she is kind of jealous about your accomplishments, she is correct in that you are, by far, the best option to go into the Abyss, get information, and help solve the Worldwound once and for all. She *does* want to end the threat. Her sending you in is a good move, regardless of her motives.

To me it honestly fealt like she was someone completely set in her ways. You represent change from her perspective no matter what you do. She has spent centuries staying the same. I don't think she knows how to handle someone growing as powerful as quickly as you are.

The crystals were the best excuse because she legit needed you to get rid of them. So... Both? You represent the uncontrollable to someone who has been in control for CENTURIES.

She needs you to get the crystals gone. But she also needs you gone so the world starts making sense again.

If she isn't jealous, you can't romance with her since she's too pure.
Since she is a paladin with only CHA/CON/STR (in game), she makes her choice/action by "feeling right".
She is just like a Leo female.
She would be fine if you support her, and she may be disgusting if you judge her from the point of view of logic.

She did do it because she was jealous, at least partially. She admits as much herself. She also admits that she almost immediately regretted doing it and that she basically spent the entire time you're away feeling guilty as all sin.

I don't remember if you have to be romancing her to get that info or not, but I remember she told me that point-blank in one of my playthroughs.

Jealous and stupid at same time. Jealous as in other poster said and stupid for doing epic staunton vhane move and doom drezen once again. But tbh that's a stupid writing from Paizo, how someone with over 100 years had not once gained a wisdom to think. We as human as we get old get wiser and regret some of our youth choice but in this Advanture path (pnp term) this kween keep making mistakes after mistakes for 100 years ! Damn 100 years of crusade against evil and still making mistakes, i'll never see ♥♥♥♥ so ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Literally does the same thing Staunton is condemned for, taking the Banner from Drezen. From what I've seen I think she might be the sole reason there ever needed to be more than one Crusade.

This. She send the PC to the abyss cause someone needs to go AND cause she’s jealous. And it’s human to be jealous and a she’s lovely person.

She apologises and admits to it when you meet her later and asks you to forgive her. You get an extra apology if you’re romancing her.

My fave NPC so… *moves away before singing her praises yet again*

I think part of the problem is that you're this nobody who suddenly turns up, gets mythical powers beyond anyone's imagination, and start pushing back demons left and right where after a hundred years of her being in charge, no one has managed to get this far. No one knows why you have this power or where it comes from and it can take very unusual forms that are definitely not necessarily lawful good. She's basically expected to make use of you and promote you to a position where you can help, even if she doesn't know to what degree she can trust you or your powers.

The other part is, of course, that she's suddenly being eclipsed, people talk about you being the only hope and chance while she has been maintaining the defense for all these years.

She does apologize and if you talk to the storyteller you can get some background info (that you can use in convo with her later) which does make it a bit better.

Don't read this if you haven't reached Act 5: Now we just have the Hand to deal with, who abandoned us after everything we've done for the world just because of where our power happened to come from..

Yes... yes she is...

If it were not for the Wardstones, Mendev would have been conquered long before now. Because Galfrey and her Royal Council are hopelessly incompetent when it comes to fighting back the hordes of the Abyss.

If you're insightful enough (in real life, not in game), you can see that how obvious it is that Galfrey and her council are more concerned with securing their public reputation and status. None of them are taking the war as seriously as they should be. Something which not only Regill, but even some of the crusaders themselves will freely point out if the subject is brought up around them.

For example, one of Seelah's friends comments about how the queen broke protocol by appointing you to the position of Commander, despite having no prior experience or training in the military.

Anevia and Irabeth received their positions simply because they provided the queen their assistance one time in the past. I can't remember if they saved her life, or not. But one good deed was enough to have them rise to some of the highest and most trusted positions within the crusades. Such as being head of security in Anevia's case.

There are numerous reasons for why the queen deserves a slap to the face in full view of the public, but that would take up too much space to list them all.

Not centuries. Century, as in singular.

The World Wound was opened 100 years ago, and the queen only received her life extending elixir in order for her to continue fighting against the threat it posed. With the exception of the Sun Orchid Elixir, Galfrey is just a normal human.
