...and also some pretty awesome stuff like unique spells, ability to merge spellbooks for CL 30(!), and some awesome abilities
That would interest me too. A bunch of your enemies might realise their grave mistake when you turn them undead. It might be not wight, but they cannot complain when you work them to the bone.
At least they do not need to mind their career anymore when they reach the dead end of their job.
Was he a lich all along ? :O been so long since i played those
I was making a reference to the Anime. I completely forgot about the games with the same name. :D
4 lich only companions(I think its 4)
Undead companions dont tire out.
They can walk forever, are immune to many status effects(Including buff's)
You get access too some of the best spells including:
Repurpose: Enemies that died while under the effect of this curse will serve you as undead minnions whenever you are on the map.
They never despawn until the destroyed but wont follow you between area's.
Turn the living into undead spell for 24 hours(might need a feat)
Meaning they get all the bonuses of being undead.
Immune to fear, charm, polymorth, tireness, etc.
Winning crusade fights gets you free troops(Way to little troops for the losses you have in some fights)
Some of the best screw you moments in the game.
Downside of being a lich:
People hate you.
A lot of enemies you should be able to turn into undead minnions arent even an option.
Looking at you traitor girl....
As a general rule:
Lich give you power at the small cost of being hated by some of the less...
Pregmatic people.
Lich is ridiculously powerful, has some incredible spells, repurpose (raising enemies into your allies), exsanguinate (cl/d6 damage with no save nor attack roll, and extra bleed and ability damage after a fort save) and it's aoe version, corrupted magic (greater dispell that gives a -1 penalty to AC, saves and attack rolls for each dispelled buff, which singlehandedly drops bosses by 10-15 AC), a spell to turn companions undead and then an AoE heal that just heals all undead to full, etc.
Another incredibly powerful thing is the fact that you and everyone around you gets permanent +2 to caster levels, meaning all your and your companion's spells will be more powerful. You also get a permanent skeleton champion companion, who functions a lot like an animal companion with functioning equipment, and additionally all undead around you get bonuses to their str, dex and cha.
As for abilities you choose you can get one that turns all your damage into negative energy. That means you won't have much problem with overcoming damage reduction, and you can avoid hitting your undead with AoEs (since they're immune). Or you could also take the mythic ability that lets you ignore resistances for negative energy, and simply ignore all immunities against all your damage spells. There's an ability that lets you do ability drain every time you deal spell damage, ability that gives you great spell resistance, etc.
If you're asking solely about the final part of the transformation, then yeah, you get -2 to str and dex and -10 to speed, but you also delete your con stat and replace it with CHA for everything. Meaning your health and fortitude save is calculated from CON. You also get multiple immunities like fatigue/exhaustion immunity, sleep immunity, poison immunity, bleed immunity, death immunity, stun immunity.
