Purple Stone Knife
So for some reason I realised the knife was gone towards the end of act 4. I believe I gave it to the Storyteller and didn't check to see if I got it back from him after he takes a look. Did this happen to anyone else? Does he give it back later?

Depending on your choice how to deal with the monolith at the end of chapter 1 the knife can dissapear

Mainly should you choose Aeon answer. which i always thought was kind of a bad desigh choice. since if you dont choose the Aeon answer, than that mythic path is blocked from later, but others are not if you dont choose them, so Aeon loose the knife, no matter what.

Is there any use for that item later on except showing it to the Storyteller if you didn't show it to him beforehand?

It's one of the crystals you can use for the ending. You know the ones you harvest from Demon Lords.

You can also return the knife to its rightful owner in Act 4.

Aeon can get the knife back in act 5 thanks to their time travel shenanigans.

I didn't use it in Act 1, I've always had it equipped all the way to Act 4, and only realised it disappeared after towards the end of Act 4 and only time I remember having any interaction regarding it was giving it to the storyteller to take a look.

i never encountered that...maybe because i changed from Aeon to Devil? does that happen AFTER the time you become a devil, or is that simply something i missed?

The Kenabres time travel is after the devil split point, so presuming recovering the knife happens then (I can't confirm that, but the Aeon path has changed since I played it), then yes.

When you let Storyteller look at it in Act 2 it goes to your inventory. Before it would be permanently locked in the offhand slot of the 4th weapon slots.

My Aeon run was Version 1.1, so I can't verify recovering the knife at all. However, based on various websites, it seems like true Aeons get a replacement purple knife upon reaching Mythic Rank 9. If that's accurate, it's not available for Failed Aeon (or Renegade Aeon for those that prefer that term) or Aeon to Devil.

I did a true Aeon run recently, you get the knife back after traveling back to the opening to save Terendelev - she gives it to you when you meet her again in the modern day. You also change history so the Wardstone was never attacked and the intact stone gets moved to Drezen, which is a little weird since Aeon considers the wardstone such an abomination

Yes I know about Act 2, and I did get it back then. But what I'm saying is he asks for it again in Act 4, and I think that's when I never get it back.

It's a fresh Nahyndrian Crystal, which is connected to the secret Ascension ending.

To get the Commander to ascend, you only need 1 fresh crystal.

To get the Commander and their companions to ascend, you need 5 crystals.

To get the Commander, their companions, and Areelu to ascend, you need 6 crystals.

---------------------

For most of the game's mythic paths, you'll need to complete Nenio's personal quest chain in order to get a 6th Nahyndrian crystal. Just use a Midnight Bolt on the optional boss to make them drop one.

If you don't want to deal with that headache, though, both the DEMON and TRICKSTER mythic paths have a far easier way of obtaining a 6th crystal. Which, if you decide to complete Nenio's quest chain anyways, means they can technically get their hands on 7 Nahyndrian crystals.

It’s possible to lose it in Demon City if you tell a certain Succubus about it and then fail a pretty tough check to resist her.

Other than that, neither Demon nor Lich path have any reason to lose it; for any other paths, you’d have to check with the other players.

Then last but not least, there is of course also the possibility of user error… maybe you sold or dropped it somewhere.

After the events in Kenabres at the end of Act 1, it is no longer an essential item, so that could have happened too…

Either way, if it truly was a bug or whatever, you can always re-add it to your inventory via ToyBox.
