Regarding changing companion classes
I recently got that mod that lets you completely respec companions, just for the fun of it, and I was wondering if any of them are known to break quests or anything if respecced. Thanks!

Quests, no. Concerning other mechanics, it's a mod so depending on the class some mechanics might break, keep a save before installing the mod in case you need to rollback.

Picking a new god for a cleric/warpriest class might make casting unavailable, so make sure the god's alignment matches.
Besides that I can't remember anything else breaking for me, but I still don't like messing with base stats/backgrounds

It won't break anything, but certain dialogue/events won't make sense. Ember still heals people even if she has no healing spells. Daeran still talks as if he's an oracle and so on and so on.

Sometimes The Companion Full Respec Mod, does cause problems for Seelah. So be sure to save, and backup your saves.

Oh yea it breaks certain companions. Seelah is one of them. Good point. Also, if you give Ember the Witch class instead of her default Archetype she still gets her Archetype progression. Such as the curse etc.

The Oracle curse progression works independently, but at a slower rate when you don't go Oracle or Stigmatised Witch.

Ember's last quest is a high level spell so you won't get to access if you go bard or such.

He's talking about complete respec. So not doing a level 3 Daeran Oracle into something else. But for instance do 20 levels of Skald on Daeran.

I've fully respecced Seelah before (though I've always kept her a paladin so maybe that's it), how's respeccing break her?

Which is a bug, oracle curses are like sorcerer bloodlines or animal companions. They should only level when you level up a class that has the feature.
The issue with curses is that mythic ranks mess up the progression (and they continue to level up using mythic rank instead of levels).
The bug can also break curse abilities when get a level up in a class that has access to curses and a mythic rank at the same time. My first char was an oracle and my curse got maxed midgame and no feature besides the first one worked.

They corrected parts of the bug, but some issues still linger.

They're actually not like that; oracle curses still progress at a rate of 1/2 HD if you gain hit dice from any source other than the oracle class: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/oracle/oracle-curses/

She will lose her deity for instance. I believe multiclassing her afterwards also breaks her. I've not done it in a while, but you need to be careful respeccing her.

that's just a visual glitch afaict. it doesn't display on the class screen but the trait should still be there. same happens for me with every respecced owlcat companion as long as i tell the mod to keep background and deity. i'm not multiclassing her this run (but also am doing a bunch of gestalt nonsense on everyone lol) tho, so maybe that's why no glitch?

It's not. If the deity is removed she cannot select paladin as a class or any other class that requires one. I've seen it happen.

Respec mod also messes with skillpoints sometimes. Giving 40+ points at level up (that aren't actually there and when spent disappear after closing the screen)

Respecing your companions with Barley Respec doesn't break any quests, nor does it give incorrect progressions to characters after they've been respec'd into other classes. The only issues that come up (as gotoground said) are visual, like no deity / backgrounds which can be fixed with a quick save/load or just continuing through the respec. (Also the -1 level button is completely broken, but that has never really worked so...)

Curious the misinformation spread here, really reminds me of how Reddit used to bash the mod back when the game first came out, and then you ask them about their problems, and it turns out they never used the mod themselves or were using a version that was massively out of date.

Funny thing with respec mod is, it also affects Toybox respec. If you respec Seelah through Toybox while having respec mod installed you can't reset her to normal level 1 stat. It always completely resets her.

Not misinformation if it's true. I've used both toybox and respec mod extensively and always use the latest versions. Respec mod isn't 100%. It's just a fact. And if you know that, you can work around it. Worst part about it for me is it messes with toybox respec. So I now only install and use respec mod when I need it and then uninstall it again.
