Fighter is a stable first choice. Not complicated, doesn't have to worry about spells or other limited action economy and is still going to be powerful.
I went with an extremely high damage rogue (for normal difficulty)

so you go knife master:

race: human (for the extra feat)

Background: pickpocket

Skill points: s12: d19: c14: i14: w10: ch10: (put racial bonus as dexterity)

Level - 1 feats: First you wanna pick martial weapons proficiency (because the kukri is insane and is a martial weapon) and the second feat should be 2 weapon fighting

deity: up to you do pick one that has the chaotic good because you mythic path should be trickster later on

level - 2 rogue extra feat: Combat reflexes

level - 3 feat shake it off

Go to youtube to find out what you wanna do after that lol

Mutation Warrior.

Beast Rider with a piggy (preferably halfling character so you can ride the oinker right from the start).

warrior - archer

I recommend Rogue.

Rogue can Sneak attack, has high Skill pool (so you can shoot up Perception to the sky and never miss anything hidden).

IMHO the "best" class, or perhaps more accurately a safe and solid choice, for a beginner is a 2H martial class of some kind. This is because, unlike Kingmaker where you had Amiri from the get go, in WotR you have no access to a high damage output melee companion for about seven levels or well into Act 2.

Given you have very limited spell and ability slots in the early game having a badass melee character in your party makes life significantly easier at the beginning and in fact proves extremely effective, if built properly, throughout the game,

For straight forward single class builds to fulfil this role you can look at sword saints, mutation warriors and particularly bloodrager primalists. All three of these are "better" than a straight fighter pound for pound.

If I was to plump for one sure fire recommendation it would be a bloodrager primalist wielding a reach weapon such as a glaive. There are several reasons for this: they can slice and dice from safety over Seelah's (you main tank) shoulder, they get a number of very useful low level spell slots to self-buff, in particular Mirror Image and Enlarge Person, they get a mythic ability Endless Rage which means they are effectively always raging, they can be built either for Pounce which amplifies Charge or Cornagan Smash which demoralises all enemies within 30 feet following a kill and is devastating (you would need to look up exactly how to make those builds).

You can't really go far wrong with a bloodrager primalist and it will synergise with your companion roster very well.

i agree with mutation warrior, its the most simple class with the most power you can get in the game, just pop your mutagen and start hitting things with a stick

some people would say bard but i dont think so,
i have noticed that there are a lot magical weapons available but u dont have a lot martial characters, selaah is tank and wenduag is ranged and u might not even have her,
i recommand a melee with martial weapon profency, something that could switch between tank and dps would be best because u can need both

Hm, I tend to give Seelah a glaive and she's doing very well in the damage department with 18 base strength. That said, I also put a 2h weapon on my mc. So there's that. And if you use Woljif correctly he can destroy almost any enemy single handedly. So don't know what you're saying about not having a decent melee party member. There's plenty.

wolfy and camelia can make decent melees, dd+tanky, i would stick with tank for selah usually though, she also starts with shield focus so...

That one bloodrager subclass for tieflings. Be big, smack things with big stick, twoshot bosses, try to not get twoshotted by anything. Did this class with azata path, superfun

Yeah, Fighter seems like the best option for starting out.

Play style is pretty straight forward. Just run in the direction of the nearest enemy and hit them until they die.

Also, you get the most selection of feats in the game.

Something simple. Definitively stay away from things like Magus. 4 playthroughs as Magus across 2 games and I'm still not 100% sure how this sumbitch works.

get fighter or ranger
