Who knows, maybe the upcoming patch will make it better. I haven't seen it yet myself but I'm getting there and I've seen lots of complaints about it, some people say you look like a hobo in rags. It's a shame if true, because aesthetics are important in an RPG, get those right and you might even attract an entire audience, the kitsune thing was a great example.

Additional note, most RPGS allow you to change your color scheme and even your portrait in some cases on the fly, we don't have those options either as far as I am aware. Unless it's gated behind respec, which is another issue all together. Mods can always solve the issue, but these are things the vanilla should get right in the first place.

Though I can understand the portrait being locked after you transform in mythic levels. They said something, IIRC, about cost as far as providing selections for those... Gotta say I'd like to see just how expensive those commissions are, perhaps if I were more invested.

It varies from artist to artist, where they live and their fame. But usually you have to pay over 300 bucks for a single, full body sized and colored portrait with illustrated background like Owlcat uses ingame. Putting it in another perspective: devs could implement brand new features into the game for the same kind of money.

Also, mythic paths allow for custom portraits. You won't be locked in to use the standard ones. Which is a good thing, given none of the mythic portraits cater towards shorties for instance.

I believe the Owlcat rep on reddit has shown more cosmetic options and hinted at transmog once the EE hits.

With the options to add your own portraits I'm not sure why this is an issue for people...

I'd actually *want* my neutral lich to be a catfisher. A 'semblance of life' spell should be well within his capabilities and let him continue his quest for magical supremacy with *living* minions *cough* companions at his side. I'm sure there could be some way of defeating issues with 'true sight' rumbling the lich's true nature.

Why is a lich called a catfish? I download portraits to make sure they don't look remotely like me.

I'm not sure people understand what OP is complaining about (or maybe I don't). I think OP is saying that the character model should be closer to the portrait, not the other way around.

It's pretty much turned into a general discussion about cosmetics. I'm just waiting for EE at this point. Grim dawn until then.

with some work with visual mod i'd say my lich look cool enough

Sir... I am saying our character in game does not LOOK like the portrait aesthetic wise. We look like level 1 bone skeletons, not a lich. Context babes.

Finding a portrait that's actually worth importing is much harder than it sounds. I get most of my imports from Deviantart, and it is damn near impossible to find female portrait options that not only fit with the game's aesthetics, but also have not been overly sexualized.

It should not be this damn hard to find female half orcs that look like Irabeth's portrait! But instead, I keep finding a bunch of green skinned 'elves' in chainmail bikinis!

The block for colors is stupid too.
You dont can make a elf with blue skin or make a vampire with the brown hair (THE BROWN HAIR, THE MOST BASICAL COLOR OF ALL).

Is just disgusting how the devs, make the most stupid choice for no reason at all.

It's odd, because we could have blue and green elves in Kingmaker. So not sure why they decided to change it in WotR?
