Aeon playstyle
What's it supposed to be? I see a lot of PBAoE(=centered around you) effects. Is this a melee centric Mythic?

It's all about balance and equalization, so you have a lot of Enforcing Gazes that bring the enemy down and your allies up. Plus you have an ability to take an exact roll on any random dice roll ... seems some people would like that.

It's also the only Mythic that has a Mythic Suppression ability, which I guess un-Mythics your Mythic enemies. :steamhappy: It is really good at debuffing, and dispelling negative effects - almost too efficiently so. (Zero State seems to wipe out evyerthing.)

It wasn't my favorite, as I've said a few times, either storywise, or in terms of its spells/abilities.

As for the frills, well you see a blue glow around people who have done unlawful things (which seems to be just about everybody in Drezen) and axiomites wander around the city, spouting math equations.

Yeah, I haven't really paid attention when I was going for Devil. But I didn't really need to, it was an AsmoAdv + Ecc stack, very powerful both in and out of combat.

I originally wanted a casting focused Druid(I have the access to Halcyon), but Aeon don't seem to really gel with Casters. More with the likes of Magus / Hunter / Inquisitor.

Personally, I think Aeon suits ranged better than melee because it's much easier to take a full attack on every turn and not waste any attacks. Sure, pounce builds are fairly common, but after your pounce destroys everything in range, your remaining attacks are unused. Unused attacks are partially wasting limited rounds of aeon bane.

(having more experience with ranged builds than melee builds might be leading to this opinion)

It has worked great on my melee fire kinecist. touch attack so hit easily with banes to dispel ( plus fire gives choices like foxfire infusion to keep them from getting displacement spells again plus easy access to dreadful carnage to debuff them even further ) and aeon immunities help with poor will save eventually.

An Archer? Huh, never thought of that*! Greater Aeon Bane applies to it? How about normal Bane?

*because we have more than enough Archers as is, lol.

i played a paladin aeon and really liked it, i think for builds anything that has alot of attacks to trigger aeon bane is really good with that path

I can't personally attest to it, but I've heard bane stacks with aeon bane.

Melee is NOT what I had in mind for this.

How's Aeon for casters?
Schlumpsha Apr 8, 2022 @ 2:38pm
The Aeon's Enforcing Gaze(s) affect both allies and enemies. But not the Aeon itself. Which makes any of the spellcasting relevant gazes useless for your actual caster character. Any other Aeon stuff which may aid casters can be boiled down to passive immunities. It's... not exactly an enticing path for fullcasters outside of crowd controlling.

They don't affect him? And you'd have to be in melee to affect enemies(basically)? But, why? It's not that strong.

Gazes only work on units the Aeon watches. And I don't think the Aeon has a hand mirror ready to during battle. Best thing will be gazes that lower enemy DC, CL or make overcoming SR easier for your casted spells. But gazes won't directly affect your character.

Also, enemies without eyes or those with tremorsense or blindsense are immune to gazes.

Any notable enemies that are immune?

Re: Self Gaze
Aeon gaze for attack rolls and caster level works on the Aeon. At least, it did in 1.1. Never cast any save spells, so don't know about that. Didn't notice if the DR worked properly - I think it would have been better to take the temporary hp gaze instead.

Re: Gaze Immunities
Check the patch notes for better details, but one of the 1.2 notes indicates that Aeon gaze no longer works against enemies that have blind sight. I don't think that "blind sight" was the exact term they used, so you might want to check (it might have been much more general).

edit:
Found it. From the 1.2.1g patch notes ...

Aeon Gaze will no longer work on enemies with echolocation, thoughtsense and blindsight, because it is gaze

Aeon is effectively the 'crowd control' type of mythic path. It gets access to a lot of Gaze abilities which can enhance your allies, and hinder your foes. One such gaze has the power to completely nullify the enemy's damage reduction, while another can instantly dispel all their magic.

Basically, the Aeon is 100% not putting up with anybody's crap. They came here to do a job, and come Hell or high water, they are going to accomplish it!

I heard Aeon is good for summoner builds.
