Fleshmarkets questions and strategies
Obviously, spoilers for Act IV

So what is the best way to go about the fleshmarkets? I just walked through, conversed with the slavers and such, purchased suture, the golarian slaves, the mephit, as well as some ingredients and such (I REALLY need to find somewhere to buy diamond dust and diamonds though!).

But now I'm wonder a few things.

1) I've seen online that a good hard fight would be just to go in and kill the slavers, but to be careful as they all proc. Go to a corner and focus down one slaver at a time is what I've seen I believe. Will doing so free the slaves, so if I reload and go this way I can save my money?

2) If I do decide to kill the slavers (based on the answer to question 1), are there things I should do beforehand? I assume I should talk to Black Mask first, to activate the Trever questline, and donate to the Pathfinders. Anything else? Can I just go around talking to the slavers, buying wares, and then kill them all to free the slaves? Perhaps i should buy that Mephit first? I think I heard that the Rusty axe for 100k is like an amazing weapon everybody should get?

3) Seriously, with all the Restorations and stuff I'm throwing around, I'm running low of diamond dust and diamonds. Where get? I've killed a couple of the optional bosses in the city, and they sure liked their -ability and level attacks.

Thanks fro the help!

ya you can save it all the way to the end, which is probably recommended. after the final act 4 fight, you get a final chance to wrap up any quests before you get sent into act 5. its one of the harder fights in that act. i had a much harder time with that than the final act 4 fight.

I think you need to buy the slaves. You'd think killing their master would free them, but I don't think it works that way.

I suggest starting with Dyunk the Slave Trader: you get lots of money from him.

I'd be nervous leaving it to the end if you're an Azata: Aivu get's kidnapped shortly after you enter the middle city, and you have to rescue her (which triggers the Slavemarket fight). I don't know what the consequences would be if you leave if for later.

You can kill the slavers individually, but after the main event, you need to go back to actually free them (just click on them).

The Sosiel plot will progress even if you don't speak with Black Mask. You might need to pass some skill checks though (main PC only). Let me check ...

edit:
In my first run, looks like I knew who the Dire One was before seeing him - don't remember how, and don't want to take the time to review.

However, for my current run, I know I completed all Sosiel's quest before going to Middle City. I also remember talking to Black Mask later, and Sosiel still went through his scripted dialogue even though Trevor was relaxing back at camp. At that time, it was version 1.2.0 beta.

edit 2:
If you want to buy (or sell) anything, do that before killing them - except for the fleshmarket coin which will be dropped as loot after killing them.

You do want to but the Gladiator slaves ahead of time (otherwise they'll join the fight against you).

You can kill all slavers and then the slaves will be free. You can free every single one of them just by clicking on them.
I don`t know what happen when you free these "super evil" slaves at the end of the market, but it sounds like you better not free them.
But like the others said, do it at the end before you leave the city.
And buy the things you want from them,
And you can loot a lot of money (and other stuff) from them.

I'm a little concerned about the comment in regards to the Azata path, which I am on. I have explored all three levels of the city, killed Willibus, killed several of the optional fights on the tops of buildings (the Soul Slayer one was tough until I figured the key to it) or kick off if you wander into the wrong area or try a convo with the wrong demon, etc. I have not started the Battlebliss nor the Ten Thousand Delights stuff yet. Aivu has not yet been taken, though one of the slavers seemed very interested in her.

Does this change anything? Should I go ahead and start killing the slaver so that when Aivu gets taken that fight might be easier?

Also, I thought I had read that there is going to be a big fight in Nexus, and you need some of the slaves to help out. Is that in Act IV or Act V? If its Act IV, then I cannot wait until the end to kill the slavers can I?

RP-wise I'm tempted to start the fight now, but don't want to screw up any future progress nor waste my time on a fight I'm really not supposed to even try now (I'm level 15).

The attack on the camp at Nexus happens at the very end of Act 4, when you return from the Colyphyr Mines. But once you leave for Coylyphr, you can't return to Alushinyrra; you'll get plenty of warning that you won't be able to come back.

In my case, Aivu was abducted by cut-scene with no warning. I had only been to the Lower City, and was just starting to explore the Middle City (I think I had been to the Fleshmarkets once). I was 14th lvl at the time.

[Edit]If you haven't had Aivu abducted yet, you'll have an easier time than I did. After I rescued her, I had to fight the rest of the Fleshmarket when I exited Shed-skin's hideout. I suggest using Greater Invisibility on your squishier party members; there's quite a few archers, even after you take out the slavers.

Interesting. I wonder if going into the flashmarkets and leaving triggers the Aivu dragon-napping. It sounds like it does force my hand to fight everybody.

I'm going to try going in, buying some stuff (anything I should make sure to pick up?), talk to Black Mask for Trever, and then see if I can kill the slavers without buying slaves. I'll be sure to use Social's Death Ward type ability and a good Protection from Arrows spell. See how it goes. :)

I'll have to decide if to take the pleasure slaves. If I remember what I read online correctly, having them actually hurts you in the big fight in the Nexus. But RP-wise I doubt I'd leave them behind.

You can free the Golarian slaves after the fight, but not the gladiator slaves, those you have to buy. If you want to repel the invasion into the nexus at the end of Act 4, it helps to have the gladiator slaves.

Buy everything you want from the Fleshmarkets before the fight. Some of the game's best items are there. There are very few Act 5/6 vendors with new items. The gladiator slaver, Raggy, and Krebus all sell items.

I think you can buy diamonds/diamond dust from the top of the mage tower once you finish that area, which is very easy.

The fight is definitely possible without fighting the slavers separately. I did it against the entire markets after killing dyunk for the aasimar quest. It was fun and I would try it out that way.

As long as you buy the Gladiator Slaves, and have Nocticula's guards protecting Nexus, you should be fine.

I needed to take out the slavers individually first (playing on Hard).

You can also apply a decently liberal layer of cheese - even after killing 80% of the market, rescuing Aivu is a pretty knarly fight - run North East past the ultra evil slaver/slaves, down the ramp and onto the next island (the one with Shamira's palace on it) - keep running as far away as possible and the mobs will coming in somewhat managable waves (although a few just insta spawn no matter where you are).

I had only done it on core, but I just reloaded an old save and tried it on hard.

It's definitely harder - I couldn't dispel Krebus on a roll of 20 - but the saves of most of the enemies were still around 20 or less and selective sirocco dc was 29 and phantasmal killer dc was 38, and I had cleared most of Act 4 so my level/equip reflected that. Obviously I did turn based given it's such a cluster.

In my experience, this only happens if you try to attack the giant meat ball, who captured Suture. If you attack the other slavers first, you only trigger them individually. You can make this fight much easier by going around to all the other slavers and killing them first, before fighting the guy in the center.

Just make sure you allow Solsiel to talk to the masked slaver first, as he's tied to his companion quest.
