Rain of Halberds was the only Trickster spell that seemed to actually be useful to me, in this game's current build.
Ray of Halberds is supposed to be it's upgraded version, but I don't think it actually works right now.
The Beer Elementals were also very disappointing. They're just a renamed Water Elemental. Didn't even change the color to look like actual beer!
The most useful spell for any Trickster is Trick Fate. It's cheat mode, especially on a martial because everything will auto-confirm for 3 rounds. Attacks, saving throws, critical hits etc. Even for casters its useful for bypassing spell resistance by rolling a 20 + your modifiers (not auto confirmed though). It will auto confirm a ranged touch attack to save or suck/die, in addition to the optimal bypass spell resist roll, making your spell's actual DC the only hurdle.
Ray of Halberds does work and does more damage overall to a single target.
Beer elemental is disappointing. Its just a Water Elemental with the Punch-Drunk ability on hit. Basically a save vs. 12-22 DC (based on elemental level) or be nauseated. Most demons are immune to poison effects so its only useful vs. low will/trash cultists (stinking cloud in attack form). Your action economy is probably better used on other trickster spells unless you need the tankyness of a Water Elemental.
Almost greater invis stacked with high sneak on sneak 2 is nice.
Micro Proportions is the next best thing to sliced bread for any dex characters/ray-touch casters.
Unlimited times too with Metamagic: Completely Normal Spell!!!
/end thread. :p :P
Right, I forgot about the 3 auto 20's spell, too.
That's the only problem. Without Completely Normal Spell and/or Abundant Casting the uses are limited. With completely normal you get 4 extra casts and with abundant+normal, 12? (not sure)
Edit: I misunderstood what the 3 referred to I think (i'm guessing you meant 3 rounds of 20s), but still that's the downside: Only 3 casts by default.
There's no reason not to be super tiny, monstrously big, and tiny or big.
I think the main reason for it though is the amount of freedom of trickster tricks you get for tier 1 2 and 3.
For instance Tier 2 perception feats help the whole party and stay if you decide to switch to legend.
Use magic device tier 2 makes wants unlimited and forever. My trickster had unlimted haste from a wand of haste, unlimited heal from a wand of heal, and unlimted skeletingtons from a wands of create undead.
Then there's tier 3 perks like use magic device's letting you be also a wizard at your caster level.
I think trickster having a trick for every skill in the game makes trickster the most interesting for builds of all the mythic path. You get to do some really silly things. Your other choice of Azata has a dragon pet to talk to. they both have their strength.
I heard no one like Aivu though. She's the most annoying unlovable character in the game. There's no way there will be blowback for my statement because everyone agrees with me. We might as well move on to tricks like you stated.
The tricks are the powerhouse especially the team-wide ones. Perception 2 being the most important team one, followed by World 2 and 3.
World 2 turns 1 rolls into 20s partywide, thus eliminating the 5% chance to fail at any auto-fail rolls for the entire team, while also giving everyone a 10% auto confirm chance rather than 5%
World 3 allows you to pick any feats at level up without requirements. This allows you to strip out any useless feats in a chain and skip to the good stuff. Like Shatter Defences/Cornugon Smash or Crane Style (especially useful on Pet feats). You can pick up racials like Last Learner or Wings for any character. Just watch out for requirements actually built into a feat's mechanics. Like Dazzling Display requiring a spell focus to work. Vulpine Pounce requiring Kitsune form and stuff like that.
FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL, FIREBALL!
So many people missing the whole point of the path lol. Guess that’s appropriate. If you’re stuck in conventional thinking Trickster probably isn’t the path for you.
