Ancestor seemed good. It's my first playthrough. I usually look up builds but up to now I haven''t seen much variety so trying out my own.
By now I keep thinking: do it your way. Do not overthink guides. The best story and ending is the one unique and made by yourself...
That put aside, what kind of second mystery do you want? I think default he goes with Life?
I see it somewhat like this role play wise:
Battle - avenger type of Daeran who developes battle abilities after he was forced to participate with the crusade
Ancestor - him doing his best to be valuable to the commander
Flame - him taking power from the Other to support the crusade
Nature - the Other taking shape in that form without him liking it
Stone - noble and acid ? works with his touch being corrossive - speaks for him being distant to others
Waves - cold heart, cool powers
Wind - it is about him running away from his past to unleash vengeance in form of storms later on
My feeling is that after being forced into the crusade he started taking things a little more seriously.
Dont listen to the guides. They are all written by min/maxers. Unless your on unfair most classes and abilities can be viable in some way.
I chose fire because it was decent for supplemental dmg and necromatic abilities are available to everyone, didnt need more.
Ancestor is fun as well.
in fact i would argue bones is not the best one to take.
