Worth playing?
BIG Gears of war fan here. Is this game worth playing? It seems like this game is like the XCom and Warhammer 40k games??

Yes this is a turn-based strategy game like XCOM.

At this price point it is well worth it, it is a very different style of game though of course.

Brought it when discount. It is a Good game esp. if you like such genre and are fans of the Gears series.

The only cons about this game, as far as I concern, is repetitive side missions which sometimes get me annoyed.

The major con is the focus on main characters especially if you're not a fan of the franchise.

Playing on xbox game pass and game is just OK. Riddled with bugs and bad game design. I'll list some of the most frusturating ones.

- Enemies can spawn wherever the ♥♥♥♥ they want with no indicator where. They can immediately drop (spawn) on one of your units on turn start, and instantly kill them. ?????

- Sometimes the AI bugs out and you are forever waiting for enemy turn to finish (they just get stuck on some random corner).

- I have double shot targeted on an enemy behind another one (Me -> Bad guy A -> Bad guy B, I'm targeting Bad Guy B). The description of the skill says, "shoots twice". The first shot kills the enemy in front (A) and then... she just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stops shooting even though B is just fine. Absolutely garbage.
Definitely worth playing.

I have found no bugs in the almost 30 hours I've been playing. It is so much fun!

I've enjoyed my time with it so far, it's very much *not* XCOM though. Not that this is a bad thing.

Gears does play more agressively. And I like the 3 actions, spend 'em how you want to approach.

Heck, later on as you level up, you can get four, five, six, or more actions per turn. It's amazing when you string a bunch of skills together to keep getting more and more action points during a round.

This.

I'm a huge XCOM fan and this game is a completely original tactical experience, love it.
Definitely worth it if you get a bargain price.
On the con side for me: There's no base or resource management to speak of (though I admit I've not finished the game yet), its plot is thin and very linear, and weaponry seems limited to basic weapons +mods.
On pro side for me: Individual missions are usually short and the longer ones have save points (you can't save mid-battle), so for a person without tons of free time (like me lately) it's a good way to get your tactical fix without spending too much time managing the base and resources. The customization options are very good (I mean, lots and lots of choices for TEXTURE, much less color and style). Pretty good cutscenes too. The combat isn't terribly complex but it is fun nonetheless.

I got this game for 10 bucks and it was definitely worth it, though I would probably not say that if I paid 20 or more.

It is easily worth $20 or more. It's fantastic.

It's pretty casual compared to XCOM, but it is a competent tactics game. Since you are a Gears fan, you'll probably enjoy it, since the story is about the Father of the protagonist from five.

Agree with everything stated above. I've never purchased a Gears game before but found it to be a pretty good point and click tactics game. I have spent a fair amount of time with the game on PC and have not encountered any bugs or crashes.

casual is definitely not the term I'd use to describe it, but it sure as hell is more forgiving
