Is it possible to play without X Box live?

The game looks interesting. I'd like to play it. But I hesitate to intall - ANOTHER - third party tool for games. I already got that many.

So do I need to install and register X Box live or not? I just want to play the single player.

You dont need to install anything to play you just need a Xbox Live account you can log into to play the game (which is completely free to make).

It doesnt require another subscription of any kind whatsoever if you would just read what I said the first time. All you need to do is make a xbox live account using your windows log in info (ITS FREE TO DO THIS). Then when you boot up the game use that to log in. I mean yes its tedious to have to do this but it doesnt cost a damn thing to do.

I only had to do it once, then the game logs me in automatically. Not the worst thing in the world and has not detracted from my enjoying the game.

You will need to register for an Xbox live account to get past the initial menu screen and play this game. You cannot play without it.

Getting an Xbox live account is free. You do not need to own an xbox console, download any app, or pay any kind of subscription. You just need to register on the xbox live website then type in your password in the game.

So far as I can tell, the sole reason this login is is required in the first place is because of a cross-platform promotion, where if you own this on PC and Gears 5 on Xbox too, then you get some free cosmetics in both.

There is no multiplayer mode, this an entirely singleplayer game.

I have a sub-question: The XBox live thing only popped up after I'd played for several hours. One day I opened the game and it was just there. Took me a couple of minutes to realize I couldn't bypass it, so I logged in with my Microsoft account (NOT Xbox Live) and all is groovy. Can anybody tell me why it delayed before popping the XBox question?

forcing the player to log into some stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ service to play a SINGLEPLAYER game should be entirely optional
ESPECIALLY for a 30 dollar game
