Side mission stuck

I recruited all the gears at the barrack and dismissed them all.
no i have to do a side mission with a minimum 4 gears. and 2 is banned
i only have total 3 available gears and i cannot go on.
because i cannot recruit more. and the side mission doesnt start with 3 gears
how can i proceed?

You do not discard spare units EVER unless you have a replacement for the same class with a higher level unit that has better skills... it will bite you in the backside real hard and unfortunately you have to start over from the beginning

Unfortunately, you're going to need to start the campaign over. :(

I imagine the devs never expected anyone would ever dismiss *all* their soldiers, given that there's really no reason to dismiss anyone except to free up a slot for recruiting someone else.

You should be able to restart the chapter (instead of the whole campaign or act) from the Missions screen. There is a button in the lower right marked "reset progress" that allows you to do so; it should reset your status to the beginning of the most recent chapter.

If you're still at the beginning of the game then I guess you would have to restart, but follow the above suggestions and never dismiss anyone until you need room.

I have beaten the game 100% so trust me on this stuff. You need the right amount of units per class to get you over the line.

Your convoy should always be full at all times when possible. Your spread should at least contain 4 scouts, 2 snipers, 3 heavies, 2 vanguards, 2 supports. On insane thats all you are allowed. Lower difficulties will give you more slots to add more recruits.

You only replace a unit with a higher level unit if you get a higher level unit which already has the skills your current unit has. You do not want to be wasting skill tokens to change their skill tree as during the campaign you do not get unlimited skill changes as that only applies to veteran mode.

Allot of the new recruits have much better gear so I strip out the better items and hand them out to my troops as needed, then as soon as I higher level appears on the roster, its a "rinse and repeat" But to the OP why on earth would you dismiss your soldiers?

You actually can reroll a save

1. Turn off the game

2. Go to steam folder -> userdata -> find 1184050 this folder -> remote, here u can find up to two saves back.

3. make a backup. and delete last save.

4. then go to steam settings -> cloud -> disable steam cloud

5. Launch the game with cloud off, load your last good save, make any changes, equip some soldiers, hire someone, pick new talents what ever.

6. close the game

7. turn on the steam cloud

8. run the game, you will get the steam cloud conflict prompt

9. choose to use local save copy

10. gl and hf ma boy!
