We see nothing but a blanket and a baby arm with the infliction, We hear someone (probably a woman, and a nurse/nune) with high heel shoes (they were around back in the 10th century when the first game takes place in the 14th century) and could be the sound of stone being walked on as they had those back in the 14th century, and we hear what sounds like a pen (or quill pen) writing on a doctors wood pad that they place on the doors/beds and the biggest thing we hear is some sort of machine that the child is on (probably life-saving and keeping it alive or helping). We can safely deduce that the next game (if there is one, and I hope there will be) can take place sometime in the modern day sometimes or still at the same time as the other games, as plagues are not all that common in human history and some didn't even last that long or are even known to most people in the world today unless you look them up (I would expect them to again somewhat stay kinda true to real life lore like they did with the black plague but put a twist on it as they did with these games.)
Another way I would have liked to see maybe Amicia de Rune have a child and this might not be that far off since the black plague lasted about 7 years and the games don't last that long (which they kinda set up at the end (where she shows some sort of feeling for Lucas or could have just been a we might die here I wanted to say thanks for helping all this time kinda thing.) We know it was a year later so she could have had a baby and could be with Lucas traveling as he is still studying but this is unlikely as a baby could be with him (and that women had more "traditional" roles back then and mothers took care of the children too), so could be in the hospital and Amicia might be going there with Sophia? But then again they talk about helping the next generation with this issue like the clues that Aelia did, so setting off to leave clues around.
The even more unlikely story that I'd like to see is that the baby could be Basilius and the Justinianic plague, that is way out there and makes no sense but still like to see/play.
TLDR;
1: A modern-day world with the issues or just leave it as a cliffhanger for us to play with and ends the story/game.
2: Right after the game Amicia de Rune could have a child or someone else does and the issues continue.
3: It goes farther back from the first 2 games and tells Aelia and Basilius story.
But I'd like to hear what others think of these or what they think too.
The machine we hear indicate that it set in a more modern time, also if you calculate how often Macula appears, given that no cases of Macula exist in history beside Basilius and Hugo, and they are like 800 years apart, this indicates that Macula attacks it's chosen host every 800 years, counting from Amicia and Hugo's era, we can assume next host will be born arround 2150.
Unlikelly indeed, again assuming it takes 800 years for Macula to return, Amicia and all of her children that she might have, will be long gone by that time, the child we see might be like grand-grand-grand....grand-son/daughter of Amicia, which could be the case as Macula is prety much taking hosts from a single bloodline, yet at this point there is insufficient information to tell for sure.
It could indeed be interesting to play as Basilius/Aelia in Byzantine era, to maybe uncover the origins of the Macula, but it's highlly unlikelly that the child we see at the end is in fact Basilius.
Do we know for sure that it only runs in de Rune bloodline? If so then we can probably deduce that Basilius was a part of their family, and then if the next game happens and it is the future then Amicia would have had children to keep the line going unless there could be some bastard children.
Is it genetic and anyone in the family can inherit the infliction (lays dormant), or can it be the firstborn son that can only get it, (unlikely due to Hugo's death) or Hugo might not have been the first son?
By the way kristijan.123: have you read "A Plague Tale: Tenebris" by chance, I don't think there is Eng version as I can only find French.
As far as we are are let to belive Macula runs in a single bloodline, so it can't go from one person to the other like an infection, it is a genetic, so it's inheritted.
Now does it only resides in de Rune bloodline, we don't know, we also do not know for sure if Basilius is related to Hugo, if He isn't then we might say that it strikes multiple bloodlines, it might also be true that a carrier appears in less than 800 years appart from the last one, but in different bloodline, it may also be true that somewhere in the world a carrier might rise at the same time as Hugo was born, as I said there is insuficient information on what the Macula is and how exactlly it spreads, so there deffinettlly should be a third game which will explain it's origins, and purpose, how it happened, is Bassilius the first victim, or is there someone before him or beetween him and Hugo.
It is inherrited, literally everyone in the familly has it, but it is dormant, they aren't even aware of it, but at certain time Macula will kinda activate itself in a certain individual and wreck havoc on the world through him/her.
So as such it can continue it's way through the bloodline regardless of Hugo, if Amicia decides to have a familly at some point, or if not and the Macula is affecting another bloodline that could also be the case.
It wouldn't make much sense to make the story with Basilius, as his fate is sealed in requiem, so we might still get a prequel if Basilius is not the first one or the only one before Hugo.
But it's most likelly that we see a futuristic setting in the third game, perhaps the Order will be there too, they wouldn't be alchemists, but rather scientists and doctors that choose to study the Macula, they had another 800 years period to prepare, so it's also likelly that what we see in the end scene is not a regular hospital but an order's facility.
The order perhaps know at this time who the next carrier is, so they take him for observation.
And that we see, a baby in a hospital-like room, only it's not just a traditional hospital.
It is possible as the order is a large organisation in Requiem, at some point it's said that they have facilities arround the world, so that may be true even in todays world.
They are kinda like Abstergo/Templars in AC. or Trinity in Tomb Raider series.
A Plague Tale: Tenebris - I haven't read it yet, but I will look into it, if it's a French only version, I doubt I will understand much, Idk a single word in French, English isn't my native language but if there is an english version, I might read it at some point.
