Definitely give it a go, more so because it was free :)
But a mere ranking doesn't really reflect it. The stories are vastly different. TMWs story was more mature. More poetic and carried more meaning. It kinda teaches you to consider other's perspectives and not just sticking with your prejudice.
The game also isn't about what happens but about exploring what happened in the past.
Unlike in Lis 1, you don't change the past, just your knowledge and thus perception about it.
Edit:
One thing I'd like to add, which was missing compared to either of the LiS-parts:
The game lacked difficult decisions.
There were a few binary decisions but they never were difficult. In Lis 1,2 and TC I sometimes had to step away to weigh the pros and cons of decisions.
Here it was either: "Of course it's this one!" or "Doesn't really matter so I'll go with this."
The final decision was basically: "Do I stick with the really contradictory and illogical explanation they had from the get go or do I pick the one that is based on the new information I learned about throughout the game?" The only thing speaking against the latter was that it came from someone who the main-characters didn't like. So basically: "Do I follow my preconceived biases or am I open-minded enough to accept new information?"
i agree. even while i dont like the trans thing, the game is horrifying, The mother with that home is magical. Then the kids murder her. Who comes up with that??
And when they find out all about the house after ten years, they strip and sell it !
Including the grave of their mothers first born ?!?!.
Horrifying kids, in any way !
I agree !
Bad story though.
