Story wise, how is this game?
I got this one for free but have not played it yet. I played LIS 1 and True Colors, I think True Colors is my favorite. How does this game hold up to it as far as Story goes?

It is great.

I'd say is similar to the LiS games (the weirdeness, the powers, the characters' chemistry are all there) but at the same time it falls on a more serious, crude and "real" type of story. In that regard is more like LiS2 (pretty good also) that LiS1 or even True Colors.

Definitely give it a go, more so because it was free :)

I'd definitely rate it better than LiS: True Colors but not quite as good as LiS 1 & 2.

But a mere ranking doesn't really reflect it. The stories are vastly different. TMWs story was more mature. More poetic and carried more meaning. It kinda teaches you to consider other's perspectives and not just sticking with your prejudice.
The game also isn't about what happens but about exploring what happened in the past.
Unlike in Lis 1, you don't change the past, just your knowledge and thus perception about it.

Edit:

One thing I'd like to add, which was missing compared to either of the LiS-parts:
The game lacked difficult decisions.
There were a few binary decisions but they never were difficult. In Lis 1,2 and TC I sometimes had to step away to weigh the pros and cons of decisions.

Here it was either: "Of course it's this one!" or "Doesn't really matter so I'll go with this."

The final decision was basically: "Do I stick with the really contradictory and illogical explanation they had from the get go or do I pick the one that is based on the new information I learned about throughout the game?" The only thing speaking against the latter was that it came from someone who the main-characters didn't like. So basically: "Do I follow my preconceived biases or am I open-minded enough to accept new information?"

One of my first imperssions was "I don't think the devs know genetics, how geneics affect behavior or what an identical twin is" but then I just realized I can pass it off as "eh, magic." Oh at first I thought the twins were recalling the past, when when I realized Alyson and Tyler sometimes had differnet memories, the game doesn't offer any garunteer eithe rof them are corect. In other words, while the game present it as "well, who was right" and tires to imply it is one or the other, there is nothing in the game to contradict the idea of "well, maybe one was right sometimes, and the other was right sometimes, but other times both are wrong and none of the player chocies was the true past"

awful
I've just recently finished playing this game. It was a very good story line, good little twist and good puzzle games etc. defiantly recommend if you're a life is strange fan then this game is for you.
It's very narratively "heavy" in an emotional sense and I haven't been able to get the energy to do a replay, though I do want to as there are mulltiple possible endings and I'd like to see them.
The game is similar in tone to LIS1 and, as such, is very invested in the story telling.

It's very heavy on the trans agenda. If that doesn't bother you, maybe give it a go. It fealt forced and unnatural to me unlike LiS.

i agree. even while i dont like the trans thing, the game is horrifying, The mother with that home is magical. Then the kids murder her. Who comes up with that??
And when they find out all about the house after ten years, they strip and sell it !
Including the grave of their mothers first born ?!?!.
Horrifying kids, in any way !
