BattleGroupVR

BattleGroupVR

How much content is in the game as of now?
I know it is early access and there are plans to add more, but how much gameplay is there currently? Or is it more one of those games that has open ended gameplay to where it's pretty endless?

There's a skirmish mode you can set up yourself a la TABS where you specify each side and everything, not really a 'random' skirmish mode which would be nice. You can change every modifier on every ship however you want, and so make battles however you want- limited by performance and that there are only a few ships.

The story mode is a STORY mode. It has voice acting, and objectives, and involves managing a consistent fleet you upgrade over time and have to give up areas to go back and refit/fuel etc.

Really, quite a lot for a day 1 early access game in VR. Every single over VR game released recently may have one or two mechanics, this is a full fledged RTS almost from the get go. There is much to be desired, but the fact that the foundation is so solid is just shillable to an nth degree.

to me the skirmish mode is a waste of time. the campaign however is awsome. you basically build your fleet, while doing missions. each time you retreat to your base you kinda restart. well the enemy takes the ground back. so i guess if you want to beat the game, you need to not only beat the missions the many times you will to get new ships ect, but also not die all in one run. there are some mid base type things that will heal and make it easier. from what ive played this game is no joke, and always has you on the edge of your difficulty level, which i love. i cant stand games that are too easy, then 4 hours later your unstoppable. no this feels like your working for each ship and losing those ships will be a punch in the Naddys. yea, skirmish is basically like advanced wars, where you place units then see it play out. not really worth playing

It's just worth playing if you're interested in taking the time to set up a scenario. Mostly up to you. That it's there is nice and without it, there'd be no freedom at all to do your own fight :)

I used to love making my own battles on, like AoE2's map maker, and just having stuff fight eachother and roleplaying a bit. Can imagine many people will appreciate the same choice. I think it's a great feature to have but certainly optional, to say it's a waste of time is just preferential and it's a feature many VR games lack; freedom.

Hoping for a bit of multiplayer, also a third person cam would be swell.
The story mode is excellent, and the mechanics are really well fleshed out for a day 1 early access title. Not sure how long the story is at the moment, but i'm happy with my purchase so far.

im 5 hours in and currently working on mission 5 or 6 of the campaign. if i see it right there are 10 campaign missions atm? idk.
im just unlocking things, trying things out, buying ships, selling ships, loosing ships, trying out new equipment and weapons, replaying missions the enemy captured back, etc.
the difficulty is nice and tight, the enemy composition changes every time depending on the fleet you bring, so that easy first mission that had that single enemy is suddenly filled with 5 and you even loose a ship. the mission objectives stay the same, but they all play out completely different every time.
i dont see anyone "finishing" or getting bored of this game in less than 10 hours even in this early state, there is just no way jose.

Well I like what the dev has done so far. It's pretty cool.
