The Three-Body Problem
I was hooked right away by Terra Invicta because of the book. I highly recommend it if you haven't read it. It's about Earth preparing for alien invasion.

The Three-Body Problem series by Liu Cixin, There are 3 parts/novels - Remembrance of Earth's Past, The Dark Forest and Death's End. It's first ever Asian novel to win a Hugo, also nominated for Nebula.

I never got into the first one tbh. I'm more of a Stephen Baxter/Alistair Reynolds/Poul Anderson kind of guy.

Luo Ji is the best.

It's ok. Not spectacular by any stretch but it's a good thought exercise.

I wouldn't say its unique, its a pretty well established hypothesis, plenty of other writers explored it, Stephen Baxter, Asimov, Reynolds, a dozen others. Not to say the book is bad, mind, just not my kind of prose.

Incredible book, it is an interesting look at the anti Carl Sagan line.
Also, in college I was taught the three body problem and this is the first time I have seen media realize that we cannot colonize Centauri.
I finished the Trilogy, by far the best hard sci fi piece of work I ever read. It gave me the idea that game could be cool as it shares some aspects, I guess
Ackshually, the first book is The Three-Body Problem and the trilogy is Remembrance of Earth's Past. And the source of the Dark Forest hypothesis'sesses name is from that second book's title.
The series is based of whats called the Dark Forest version of the Fermi Paradox. Basically the universe is teeming with intelligent life but all advanced species remain silent and anyone that goes "loud" is wiped out because it only takes a single species being hostile to cause this.
I was just pointing out that the name "Dark Forest" comes from the analogy the author used in the book. A bit of trivia, but showing the impact of the story.

I rather enjoyed the books and all three of the adaptions done so far. (Netflix, Tencent, Minecraft)
