Wrong and offensive flag on "Northern balkan states"

Hi, there is wrong flag on "Northern balkan states". Capital city is Zagreb and there is flag of Bosnia. Zagreb is capital of Croatia, not Bosnia. This is offensive for balkan people since you all know that balkan states are powder keg in means of mutual relationship and nationality.

Either you create capital of Sarajevo with Bosnian flag or keep capital Zagreb but change to Croatian flag, otherwise it's offensive to Croatia and Bosnia.
Southern balkan states on map is capital Belgrade with serbian flag, thats OK.

Either way, Slovenia is left out of both of your suggestions. I don't know why Bosnia/Herzegovina's flag was chosen for the whole block, but it seems a kind of arbitrary distinction anyway, especially without there being a better suggestion. As it is now, it's similar to the Baltic States where the flag is that of Lithuania, even though the block also comprises Latvia and Estonia. There are multiple other small blocks like this that I've noticed, but I think the flag chosen to represent them is arbitrary, I certainly don't think there's any intention to offend or any favoritism being played, it just seems like they chose a single national flag from among the blocks instead of making up a collective flag for the made up block.
I have to imagine this is easily moddable though, so you might try suggesting a mod in the workshop to give the Northern Balkans block the flag of your liking, that way it can be personalized to the individual player without controversy.

Didn't even notice the flags to be honest, because this is a VIDEO GAME ABOUT AN ALIEN INVASION. You're not even playing as a nation, but as a faction, so this whole jingoistic "I'm offended because flag" routine is really unproductive. Honestly, I have no idea how the people of former Yugoslav states haven't just outright murdered each other a hundred times over. You all hold grudges like desperate old cat ladies, but at the end of the day, the flag can be wrong for a whole host of reasons, of which Zagreb being the 'capital' doesn't actually feature. Much more worth mentioning is that most people in Bosnia aren't even flying the flag in the game, because they prefer the Flag of Republika Srpska.

If you want your country to be represented more accurately in the game, you’re going to have to get a bigger country. It’s not our fault you (or probably your ancestors) sliced yours up into tiny nearly–irrelevant bits.

Honestly, the Roman Empire was just about the right size, but everyone involved messed it up. At one point there were four Emperors, all fighting each other! And whats–his–name murdered around 30,000 people because they supported the opposing chariot–racing team, and maybe were going to riot and try to overthrow him. Anyway, with that out of our system, nobody is ever going to be perfectly happy with the flags. There are just too many countries, and too many regions to divide them up into, to get it perfect before the game launches. EU4 keeps improving their map with each new DLC, and I doubt they will ever finish. At least they were smart enough to only offend 600–year–olds, which is a very small constituency.

Honestly, if I were the dev I would use geolocation to see if the player lives in one of these imperfect parts of the map and deliberately put the “wrong” flag on it just to get people talking about the game.

I dont know why everyone assume that I personally am offended because of this, instead that I pointed out ingame error.

On the other hand its hilarious to discuss and be lectured from americans (user: db48x) about nation history. Balkan states claimed this perfect spot of europe and we lived here from cca 1500 years ago. Americans are nation mixed from european explorers, african slaves, latinos...etc etc etc. America have history of around 400 years from colonization times.
But honestly I didnt expected any deep comment from american than classic "We have bigger country....yea. Murica first" trash talk. No offense, I'm just replying to subject you started about balkan nations.

Sorry, but he wrote whole article about balkan nations (not me), and thats why I replied in same manner about american nation. This discussion has gone whole wrong way, I regret that I even started it....I'm here just to play this excellent game. I think the best way to look at it, is to consider those balkan states, not as actual countries but as groupings, made to represent a geopolitical area, not politically or ethnically aligned, but close enough in proximity and economically inter-dependant. As such, for the purposes of the game, they are have been given an umbrella term by the factions vying for world control.

Plenty of 'wrong' flags due to simplification. Just look at central alpine states as an example or for all of the South Balkans.
