Alien war ship lands support goes wild

So ive been inciting unrest in China and increasing my popular support for about 5 years to the point where I have 85% support for the resistance and 3 percent for all other factions combined. Then the alien warship land and suddenly in one second the whole population pie chart seems the change. Randomly the servants go to 38%, the protectorate to 29 and I drop to 8% ? I mean the aliens are still in the ship and haven’t even come out to say hello yet. Feeling frustrated buy such a wild hit. I mean if anything aliens landing should push the undecided to choose. these game seems mostly about frustration.

Kind of sucks, but the popularity could be reversed fairly quickly, if you have like 4-5 councillors going public campaign on it, maybe need two turns if your public campaign strength isn’t high (harder for China but possible). The more immediate concern is the armies bearing down.

at risk of space-devil advocate here;
perhaps that represents civilians just 'giving up' seeing that happening- like a terror mission but instead of undecided it's submission / accepting perceived imminent loss

And if the undecided choose to back the aliens to save their lives or if they took a whole wiff of alien mind control "perfume"?

Enthrall can be used as Purge or a Public Campaign. The big swing could just simply be aliens

Just here to point out direct investing 6 times can be an great emergency defensive public opinion booster. For 2k to 6k cash you can save yourself a lot of councillor public campaigning, as long as you own the control points.

ps- I'm not used to forums being fun or funny anymore -
aside from the culture shock i got from the magically vanished thread ( i replied at the MistFox Doc there but it is vaporware )-
i'm genuinely curious if the demographic of this game doesn't skew to " what forums used to be" from back when i could forum a bit as a youngster
not necessarily age but interest set i meant, demographically.
one of times i tried to 'retire' and was modding, i ended up on a sci-fi game's forum where the majority of the players had never read any sci fi or played another sci-fi game- it was...
much different. no scifi reference to anything outside that game worked...
- but yeah this has been a pleasant surprise- keeps distacting my current game which is a distraction from my main game which is a distraction from the modding which is a distraction from 'hurry up and wait'

usually these days ( last time?) forums are people telling me how stupid my ideas are then fanboi-ing when that same idea comes into their game 3-4 years later. Yeah thinking about one in particular, same one with fanbase never done scifi before.
