Dealing with alien threat
So I was on 2 pips and captured an alien, this angered them alot... now on 5 pips.
Currently they're destroying all my habs in earth orbit. I had two empty habs to distract them and am rebuilding them after they destroy one but this has been going on for a while now.

I thought destroying a few habs would calm them down, does rebuilding affect anything? Does the size of the hab affect their hostility? I can't have them destroying my shipyard in L1.

I'm thinking they might need to destroy everything in earth orbit to satisfy them, any thoughts?

I don't want to spoil anything so I won't share mine; but i will add if you like spoilers and under the hood rather than "find out the hard way is the fun of the game"-
there's some very good guides on the "under the hood" mechanics of how much of a threat the aliens see you as - aka "hate" #
( as opposed to the 'fog of war' in-game threat-level estimate- imperfect and not always current- to me, fairly so)

not telling you how to play; myself I enjoy" eff around and find out" -
so that's my thought/suggestion but i can then say - if you want to know not use in game Fog/War estimate, the tools are there-
but it's only the fun of not knowing and guessing once, until you see behind the curtain.
Good luck, either way - sounds like you're on a path to good times tho'

In the end they killed 9 stations including one t2 hab, they might have stopped although it looks like they might just be returning to refuel. It seems a bit excessive for one capture tbh.

Well - from MY point of view-
if you've shown you're a threat, we're going to remove ALL your assets we can get to.
and never allow you to have them again.
it's hard to guerilla war us in space.

Luckily the aliens run on a different logic more based on reprisal than "winning" -
thats a bit spoiler but ; yeah, keep an eye on the threat level after that last wave of "nope" reprisal

if it's ok to mild spoiler- it's possible to get to where the just won't let you have anything in near-earth orbit-
i've barely seen that mentioned or documented but i've seen it in game-
and I'm impressed by the nuance .
well- you'll see if that reprisal was enough for them to consider you not a threat to their goals now.

they been doing that for the last 3 years in my game, the threat level never decreased, now they try to destroy my shipyard but they retreat as soon as they attack, go back to ressuply and come back to attack the shipyard and immediatly retreat.... I'm okey with that rodeo xD so I'm kinda okey now

Yes they came back, wondering if I should just kill the ship or if they will just come back with more or start targeting my mining.

My main concern is that if I let them clear earth orbit they might also target L1 where my shipyard is and don't really want to lose it at this point in the game.

I'm not too concerned with spoilers, read a lot of sci-fi at this point.

Your current MC use determine the lowst level of threat possible. If you have used enough MC to keep your threat above 5, it will take a lot of time for them to calm down.
Also difficulty affect the level and duration of the response

I'm pretty sure they have a chance to destroy your habs or such, and the tick goes either up and down depending on your threat level.

For one, a big mothership alien fleet killed my fleet surrounding one of my Earth-orbit stations, but didn't destroy it even after a while of being docked to it.

They afterwards retreated to a different orbit, only to come back later on with a different fleet to destroy it afterwards. Odd Aliens.

If the A.I. is specifically designed to make the aliens feel threatening/enigmatic, it's very well implemented.

They definitely also seem to go for cheap/easy targets as well, as a priority-goal. Aliens are fond of sending 150 power single-destroyers to wipe out undefended habs, so if you have a defense array on a colony many times that would be enough to deter the aliens from sending big fleets to destroy them. Just not worth it.
