there's some very good guides on the "under the hood" mechanics of how much of a threat the aliens see you as - aka "hate" #
( as opposed to the 'fog of war' in-game threat-level estimate- imperfect and not always current- to me, fairly so)
not telling you how to play; myself I enjoy" eff around and find out" -
so that's my thought/suggestion but i can then say - if you want to know not use in game Fog/War estimate, the tools are there-
but it's only the fun of not knowing and guessing once, until you see behind the curtain.
Good luck, either way - sounds like you're on a path to good times tho'
if you've shown you're a threat, we're going to remove ALL your assets we can get to.
and never allow you to have them again.
it's hard to guerilla war us in space.
Luckily the aliens run on a different logic more based on reprisal than "winning" -
thats a bit spoiler but ; yeah, keep an eye on the threat level after that last wave of "nope" reprisal
if it's ok to mild spoiler- it's possible to get to where the just won't let you have anything in near-earth orbit-
i've barely seen that mentioned or documented but i've seen it in game-
and I'm impressed by the nuance .
well- you'll see if that reprisal was enough for them to consider you not a threat to their goals now.
Yes they came back, wondering if I should just kill the ship or if they will just come back with more or start targeting my mining.
My main concern is that if I let them clear earth orbit they might also target L1 where my shipyard is and don't really want to lose it at this point in the game.
I'm not too concerned with spoilers, read a lot of sci-fi at this point.
Also difficulty affect the level and duration of the response
For one, a big mothership alien fleet killed my fleet surrounding one of my Earth-orbit stations, but didn't destroy it even after a while of being docked to it.
They afterwards retreated to a different orbit, only to come back later on with a different fleet to destroy it afterwards. Odd Aliens.
If the A.I. is specifically designed to make the aliens feel threatening/enigmatic, it's very well implemented.
