That being said, if you're really serious about it, even a single LDA with early ship support can hold off dreadnoughts. I just did 2 corvettes and 2 destroyers (direct fire, no missiles) with a single LDA for support against a pair of alien destroyers and a pair of dreadnoughts. Takes some fancy flying to get your entire fleet glued to the LDA all within mutual point defense coverage, but it does work.

That was a fun fight, by the way, lol. Wish I took a screenshot of it once the dreads started popping. So hilariously outgunned.
