Anyone have an idea how long it takes a probe to reach mars?

Depends on the launch window and if you have high speed probes researched. iirc it should be something like 260 days with high speed probes.

Depends on orbital phase and certain techs, but it will tell you when you try to launch it.

i was wondering because i launched one over a year ago and i have never received a report saying its arrived.

Go to Mars and there should be a "Survey Completion" date at the bottom left corner of the picture.

It's possible that you learned its survey data before your probe arrived due to having a mole in another faction whose prove arrived before yours did. Unfortunately the game doesn't inform you when you receive this information in this manner.
If you did, then you'll find that you know the survey data and can colonize Mars right now.
