Finally completed a game
I knew going n that this was a long game, but Perun's videos didn't prepare me for just _how_ long. Got the Resistance victory in 2078, something like 1,100 turns. *sigh* Gonna be a bit before I start another run, applying lessons learned to speed things up.

Yeah, you went for a looooooong game. My first run I finished in the 2050s, my second was mid 2040s. I could easily push that to mid to late 2030s with how much more I understand and if I spent less time researching literally everything and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in space, instead only doing the projects I need/want for the exact engines, drives, weapons, modules, etc. I will use while ignoring most of the Earth management fluff, like the nation union/breakup projects.

Also, figuring out good ways to turboannex federations and being a lot less scared to just conquer things rather than going the slow diplomatic way because I want to be a "nice guy" will speed things up too.

The trouble with some of these victory conditions, is that it is absolutely required that you get the meganations etc. otherwise you will never be able to meet the 65%-75% cp requirements in order to proceed with the final objectives, which is horribly tedious. I managed it finally with the initiative but slacked on fleet building, and realised that I was going to have to assault dozens of alien stations, each guarded by 30-100 alien warships, which meant I was going to have to spend years more building fleets to assault them all, all the while constantly having to deal with earth and councillor irritations (constant crackdowns, purges and whatnot. I ended up putting that game aside out of boredom and started a Servants game which I just completed in 2031.. it was too easy in comparison.

I agree with Ericus1 about focusing on space with the combat anti alien factions, if you do not take the fight to them early, you will be bogged down for years on end.

This is very true. I obviously don't ignore all the meganation projects, but only research the bare minimum to form the 6 final ones and those needed along the path. There are about 4 dozen of them along with the break-up projects yet you really only need to research maybe 11 or 12 of them.

If you stop the ayys from ever landing on Earth, you don't need most of the mil-projects. You can ignore about 90% of the engines and drives. You don't need to research the weapons techs, e.g. any of the 20 different missiles, if you only ever plan on using one of them. There is so much you can just ignore if you want to take the fight to the aliens early, like latish 2020s, and really beeline.

0.40 will reduce/streamline some of the tech tree to reduce the cruft, but it's still probably a ways off.

My Resistance tutorial campaign I stepped on my crank for 17 years before I started figuring out how to win. Still took another 13 years, until 2052. My second campaign was the Servants and it was fairly easy and pleasant game that let me brush up on the mechanics, especially stepping up my Councilor game. Definitely recommended.

[edit] By the way, the Devs have nerfed a lot of the early exploits the past 18 months or so. A lot of Perun's strategies from Fall 2022 don't have the payoff that they used to.

Servants is the easy game, you can rush to victory very fast.
You don´t need to go to space for the win, with Servants :D

All other factions you need much more effort to win the game.
