Alien Structures?
So, I'm around Year 2030. And Either the Servants or the Hydra agents keep building Alien Structures in Africa and South America. And each time, I send in a councilor to destroy the thing. But destroying each one of these things seems to really upcharge the alien aggro meter.

I've wiped out maybe 8 Alien Structures now, but now the Aggro Meter is full on red. Which I don't want this early in the game. Because once the Aggro Meter hits full red, there doesn't seem to way to bring that thing back down. I seem to be stuck in total war mode after that point.

My questions are, what is the penalty (if any) for leaving these Alien Structures intact? Besides blowing up the first one to open up the Alien research tree, I'm not really sure if there is any positive benefit to blowing these things up.

I read in (very old) posts that Alien Structures can serve as colonizer spots for Alien armies to get better control over territory. But Is that the only bad thing that an Alien Structure does to an area? If so, would it be better for me to just leave the things alone in terrible countries (e.g., Africa), and not take the high Alien Aggro penalty for destroying them?

They allow the servants to transfer control of a nation to the aliens, founding the Alien Nation which makes xenos far more annoying as they'll be able to fly around instead of moving between neighboring regions.
They also allow the aliens to insert Hydra operatives onto Earth without needing a Transport ship to do it.

Destroying the Alien administration maxes out the hate meter. Letting the spaghetti-faced freaks run rampant on Earth isn't a better option.
Is an Alien Administration the same thing as an Alien Structure?

No, the Alien Administration is the Alien Nation, formed either by alien conquest or Servant handovers.

You can defensively fight the AA without generating hate, but you can't offensively fight them.

In my Academy runs I tend to defeat the AA by allying with their neighbours. When they declare I join the war and go ham on them with Invasion Age armies.
