https://www.reddit.com/r/TerraInvicta/comments/xybrp4/alien_and_faction_hatred_mechanics_explained/
**Unlike human factions, the minimum hatred level is now influenced by MC usage. For anti-alien factions, the minimum hatred level is either 20 or the difficulty modifier * MC, whichever is higher. For the other factions (excepting the Servants, which are permanently allied to the aliens and cannot gain hatred), the minimum level is just the modifier * MC. Difficulty level modifiers are as follows:
Cinematic: 0.05
Normal: 0.4
Veteran: 0.6
Brutal: 1
Note: this is before researching the hab limit increasing techs.
Note: it is MC usage and not MC cap that affects the minimum level. Building up a lot of cap, but not using any of it will not affect the threat level. Also, it doesn't matter where the cap is coming from or how it's used.
This means that increasing your MC usage enough will increase the minimum hatred level past the point of being at war with the aliens. For example, if you have 125 MC on normal, you cannot be at peace with the aliens (125 MC * 0.4 = 50).**
Tolerance: < 20
Conflicted: 20 to 50
War: >= 50
if your meter is only 2/5 i dont think you should be getting attacked. but there are alot of factors. such as your starting faction also plays a role if your anti-alien faction. hopefully that reddit thread can help you narrow down your issue.
Is the text in one of the game data files?
For the alien faction, there's only 2 tiers: not at war (< 50) and war (>= 50). The alien threat indicator on the intel screen shows the estimated alien hatred level, with each light corresponding to an increase of 10 hatred. However, it's important to remember this is an estimate of the alien's hatred level, whereas the human factions level on the intel screen is accurate (more details further on).
so if they are attacking you im guessing your over 50 .. also humanity first and the resistance factions have starting relations at 20 meaning you will always be in conflict with servants and protectorate. it says aliens are either at war or not depending if your over 50 or under
so if starting minimum threat is 20 and you getting +36 hate from MC usage you would then be at 56 which = war
try keeping your total threat under 50 until you ready to start fighting them
so if minimum threat is 20 you should be able to get away with +29 MC usage barring no other threat modifiers such as you killing or detaining a Hydra for instance. fyi i dodnt double check your math is right either lol. use calculator =)
also 2 alien hate bars can be anywhere from 20-29 thats why i think its considered an estimation. so i would -10 from it so you dont get surprised.
that hate thread on reddit .. the guy said he pulled them from the game files although not sure which files.
I got an event popup titled literally "Aliens attack in space" with a picture of space combat IIRC and some text about how the aliens have noticed expansion into space or somesuch. They actually have NOT attacked yet, though.
Ah hah, I found the text in one of the localization files:
"It is possible that the visitors did not expect humanity to leave the confines of our homeworld. It is equally possible that our rapid technological advancement is something they have encountered before, in battles fought against other species from other worlds, and they were entirely prepared for this eventuality. Whichever might prove to be true, the outcome is the same: They are clearly angered by humanity's presence in space, and have struck accordingly. Life beyond the bosom of Earth is a fragile, hard-won thing, and thus the alien assault has had tragic, devastating consequences.

Some feel this only proves that Earth cannot possibly hope to oppose these aliens. Others interpret it instead as proof that humanity cannot thrive as long as these extraterrestrials remain within our solar system. For now, only one thing is certain: no human target is beyond their reach."
So the text says they DID attack but I was not attacked. Maybe they hit another faction? I looked and 3 of them are over 100 MC usage, one at 130.
i bet you are right .. they probabaly blew up another factions station or fleet. sounds about right
I stopped one and got stuck on war with aliens even after they wiped out 5 major orbital platforms.
As long they dont attack you, dont worry about it.
You should be save for the moment.
