The answer is always more nukes. You can beat basically anything by spamming cheap monitors, the issue is they have 0 strategic endurance, so you won't be able to win the Jupiter or Kuiper Belt campaigns this way. It's great if you just want to defend your core systems early though; I've beaten battleships, dreadnoughts, and even a skirmish mothership this way.

i use a single fast monitors for suicide missios vs all bases inner and ou er belt. usually 1 hit stations, very effective with nemesis nuclear torpedos

i do the same thing is actually not that easy to pull off, and it only 1 hit small station. a full battle station needs at least 4 hits, one on each side.
