The Aliens landed on earth, why Can't I nuke them?
So the aliens landed a ship on earth, and I can't get armies there but that is fine, I have nukes for this eventuality. Except I can't nuke them. Well ok I rival the country, but oh, it's not along the coast so I can't declare war on it.

It's extremely frustrating that the aliens can just get a foothold on earth without being able to do anything about it.

You can't nuke a country you're not at war with no matter how many aliens are there (you can nuke yourself though). Anyone can go to war with anyone else; there's just a cooldown from when you declare them a rival before you can enact it as policy.

you will have to declare war or ally the nation they are in, also as an alternative, if you have an agent with 20 plus command, alot of ops to burn, and maybe some good attack alien infrastructure techs you could just have a councilor attack it instead, it worked for me and i got alot of sweet loot out of the deal.

Wait for them to take over a neighboring coastal region

Or take one yourself

Or if unrest is high, increase it until the locals throw them out

This is what happens when the UN is fractured like in the start of the game. For example, if the Aliens land in America, do you think the Americans would accept a Chinese army entering the US to "help"? Or in reverse, the Aliens land in inland China. Do you think the Chinese would accept an American army running through China as "help"?
