How to win a war?

So I went to a nation with only one territory and after a year the war was one. However I started a war with China whom I have disarmed their armies and nukes I just see my armies sitting there. How do I know if the war is being won and when it would be? Is there something else that needs to be done?

Yes, you need to ocuppy enemy capital region with your armies.

You need manually send armies of attacking country to the enemy capital. The armies does not moves by themselves.

a) Occupation take time (look for small flag of your country).

b) Are you sure that those armies are at war with China? If you have multiple countries under your control - they need to be allies to be dragged into same war.

Probably you'd missed that you win this war? Because is that how it could end if you don't have claims for their regions - country goes under your control and allied with attacker :)

Yes. If you don't have a claim on their capital, you install a friendly regime and that is all. Think of the US in Iraq.

How do you know if a country has a claim?

Trying to create a global empire is certainly a complicated task, hope a research pops up Step one, make sure a country has a claim step two. I guess that also comes into play when looking to create federations/unification?

Open country window - Regions tab. Here you can see if any other country have any claims here.

AFAIK devs fixed moving of capital and it's no longer possible to do :)

Yes, but unification through war (AFTER you'd get your claims & ideally controlling both countries) is more optimal - agressor will keep it mil tech score.
