Space defenses use?

From the description it is clear that they prevent region they were built in from nukes and orbital bombardment. But can they help with anything else? Like preventing alien agents or alien invasion in their regions? Because otherwise they are kind of useless for the price.

Yeah, but space defense cost a lot, especially for low IP countries. And by the time you will be able to fill the Earth with it you should win couple of times already. Still neat to defend important high value places.

There's no place they can land so long as there's a space defense in that place. Pretty sure this is in the in-game description at multiple points.

No, you don't block them landing in India by having a defense site in Washington DC. You don't even block them landing in California. Or shelling Atlanta again because my aliens seem obsessed with that.

Well you technically can do complete coverage, but I don't see a reason you would go for it. By the time you cover the powerful countries you will likely have control over earth orbit so no more armies will be able to approach to land
And covering those big countries ironically make defending harder, because it increases chances of enemy landing in some small inland country that you cant access.

Well, covering smaller country you keep for some reason is both doable and will give you time to bring your armies there before aliens will have a chance to conquer them. That is mostly how I use space defense after I learned that it prevents landing too, not just nukes and bombardments.
