How to stabilize a full EU, keep cohesion resting point at 5?
Hello,
so I unified tho whole EU plus Russia. I got my democracy level to 10 and my inequality to 1.
My cohesion resting point ist still only 0.43. I read somewhere rivals do increase this so rivaled every still existing level 5 and 6 nation, China, USA, India and the Aliens. Cohesion resting point is still 0.43. Thanks to the low cohesion I have to constantly babysit the EU, reducing violence, doing public campaigns etc.
I could put everything in unity and enough into knowledge to stay a democracy but I would rather not, I need the money for the military, their is an alien invasion to fight.
So, how do I get my cohesion resting point back to 5?
Is there any way to keep the EU stable and a democracy or have I to go full autocratic?

a) Rivals (should have either same amount of CP as yours or -1 to yours).

b) Wars - could pick whatever tiny country you want. Even one that under your control too - fake news, fake wars you got the idea.

AFAIK in both cases - bonus will be from max 5 rivals and 5 wars.

you can free some country away from EU to reduce the number of regions in your country.

Base cohesion depends on inequality, GDP per capita, population, number of regions, rivals, wars, public opinion, and democracy (should be either <3.5 or >6.5).

Thanks for the tips.
It's somehow sad. You have an expensive technology to unify big nations and than other mechanis that say, no should not.
For your nation to not break apoart you have to be at war with other human nations while a hostile alien invasion in raging, makes totally sense.

I can't confirm but letting one troops carrier lands and unload on your territory put your cohesion to 10. Or at least boost it greatly. My EU was around 5.5 cohesion after several small propaganda wars. And suddenly one alien ship sneak through my orbital defence and land just at the centre of the Union. I have prepared my armies and crush them as soon as they leave the ship. And suddenly I notice that EU cohesion became 10.0

Heh. Sad? I would like to know when you find out that best way to unify state - is to conquer countries :steamhappy:

You still need the technology to get the claims.

I don't have anything to back it up, but it seems like there's some temporary penalty to cohesion after unifying. I don't think it's just pure stat based on just inequality and such, and I'm aware about the # of regions penalty. Something I'd have to look more into.

I also found the cohesion to go up dramatically after destroying alien armies. Doesn't have to be in your backyard either. Send a chain of troops into Africa to fight them, destroyed them, and the US/China was at 10 cohesion, EU jumped up to 7 from like 3 something.
