Ship construction speed

I may have missed something obvious. What are the factors that impact ship construction speed? Sometimes I have two identical ships in the cue with a build time of 90 days. But after one is built and the second one moves up to be built, the build time changes to like.. 137 days.

If you have all the required resources, as far as I know it's influenced mainly by the ship class and shipyard tier (higher tier shipyards build ships faster). Once I also got an event that allowed me to increase shipbuilding speed by 5% (not sure if it was permanent or temporary).

In your case, you probably ran out of resources. In that case, they are automatically replaced with boost and the amount (and construction speed? I'm not sure) depends on the distance of the shipyard from Earth.

Check to see if the Earth-icon in your "Build Ships"-menu is toggled on or off.

That decides whether your Shipyards wait for resources to be brought up from Earth, or wait for them to be mined in Space.

Depending on what's required and how your setup looks, including the distance of your Shipyard from Earth, one or the other might be significantly faster, or they might both be about the same.

In my case, I'm pretty sure I had enough space resources. This is late game and my mining game is very strong. I'll look into it to see if I can figure out more.

I noticed in my last game Mercury was the fastest then Earth and Mars was the slowest. I'm not sure why but there was significant difference between Mars and Mercury. Maybe it had something to do with all the Nanofactories at Mercury.

What you're describing sounds very strange if it isn't a resource shortage.
