How to get nations BACK into the EU
Playing as the EU, the AI keeps randomly pulling nations out of the EU even if I seem to have control of the nodes?

I've got France, Benelux, and Spain joined up, I'd like to integrate Germany and Norway as well.

However Portugal (in the EU but not integrated or controlled by me) broke their alliance with Norway and Germany who then both left the EU.

I've got full control of Norway and Germany but can't get them back into the EU because Portugal and now Denmark has unallied with them.

Feels like playing whackamole since now I guess I have to integrate Portugal and Denmark in order to integrate Germany and Norway? But what if Portugal decides to leave the EU too?

It gets easier when other nations leave the EU, eventually there's only you and you can do what you want.

Depending on their alliances and military, you could declare war on them and forcefully "integrate" them.

Yeah I guess if in my case Portugal would just leave, then I'd be able to bring in Germany since they'd no longer be blocked by "countries they can't ally with"?

So you need to have full control of the government if a nation leaves the EU, then you need to be sure you're allied with the EU as in the EU as a nation. Then you'll get a cooldown before you can change your diplomatic state again. It's going to be in the Relations > Allies > Manage tab, It's going to say something like "May Improve Relations after : 10 March 2027" this is when you can Ally then Join Federation and finally Join the EU.

That's how I'm rebuilding the EU superstate right now, it's a good method without the issues war can have. Western EU inc UK and Iceland are all in, now working through Nordic and eastern EU states before I start adding Turkey, Belarus etc to it.

Then I'll be going to war with Eurasia for fun.

Doublechecked you can't be allied with EU as a nation. Went through the entire thing and EU is not listed at all as something to be allied with.

Relationships window have multiple tabs - each faction have their own + unaligned countries. EU is somewhere there ;)

There are 2 levels for the EU, one is just as a Federation where you share research and space resources while the other is "Unification" where the other country gets absorbed into the new country called the EU. You want to reach the 2nd level so that countries won't and can't just leave at their whim any more.

Huh, if they leave the Union, usually there's a cool down, but once you take control of them, you can get them back in via manage nation button.

I've already brought the UK back into the EU (and unified, lol) and this is what I've had to do with every Eastern nation because the AI executive makes them leave the EU before I purge them, just to spite me. So I have to waste a year of cooldown to bring the buggers back in.
