How to form a Non Aggression Pact?
I saw in a youtube video that NAPs are possible. The player contacted another faction and there was a non-aggression pact option above the resource menue in the negotiation table.

I tried the same, no NAP to click on. What do I have to do to be able to ask for a NAP?

You need to spot an agent of the opposing faction via Investigation skill, then engage them (forgot the name of the action) to set up such a treaty. Never did it during the demo, but fairly sure that's how you're supposed to do it. Similar to detaining an agent, there's another action for doing diplomacy with their faction iirc.

The mission is simply called "Contact".
I did that several times, I could trade Resources, Orgs, Projects and Habitats (the latter only theoretical coz I don't have any) but there's no option to get a NAP. In the youtube video there is a NAP option above the rival's Resource tab. That's simply not there for me.
I tried with Academy who are tolerant towards me, with Humanity First who're in conflict with me and with The Protectorate who're at war with me. None of them had the option appear.

I play on Normal difficulty and it's mid 2023. Perun (the youtuber in watched) got his NAP in march 2023 and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't play on cinematic difficulty so his game is at worst as easy as mine, probably harder.
Why do I not even see the button? Do I have to research something?

Same here. I contacted faction which tolerates me and didn’t have any option to form non-aggression pact. Pls help!

I tried to Contact the Resistance as Humanity First and they wouldn't even meet with me.

Hm. I did sign NAPs this way. Maybe it is only unlocked after a certain technology is researched?

In my current game I could sign NAP early with one faction(exploit -> resistance) but later on the option doesn't appear anymore for any faction I've contacted.

Hmm…it would be good to hear from devs if that’s a bug or a feature, i.e. if the option does not appear it means it’s not on the table in this faction’s mind, period.

Do the NAPs even work? Had one with Humanity First but they took CPs from me regardless. And everytime I contacted them I could do another NAP for 400 Money. Seems broken to me atm.

I just got NAP by contact Human first, and on very top of the resources tab there is NAP option, its just bit grey and hard to see

Update on my attempts to get NAPs from factions. In my game I finally got to ask for a NAP. The option simply was there all of a sudden when I randomly contacted Humanity First to trade projects. Wasn't there any of the times before, so at first, I thought the hotfix may have eliminated a bug and now I would see the option all the time.
Nope. Next contact mission with Academy there's no NAP yet again. And Humanity First broke the NAP - without me getting a notice, I only noticed when I checked my relations with other factions - very soon after, despite me being very careful not to do anything offensive. They didn't offer when I next contacted them either.

Given that I got the option at least once, it must be a game mechanic after all, not a bug
I simply have no idea what said mechanic is or where I could find out.

Any help to figure this out would be appreciated.

I don't have much constructive to add, but I can confirm that prior to the patch, I could NAP with HF as the Resistance. I tried again just now in my current game, and the option was not there. Not sure why, didn't notice any tech difference, but both games they were "Pleased" with me, so I don't *think* it's related to stance/relations, but it could be a hidden tech issue. Or, as some are sumising, a feature that doesn't work very well yet :).

Heh - yeah, as resistance I cant get a NAP with HF no matter if I give them all the tech they want, and unlimited resources. The best I can do is just make them tolerate me, but then they get jealous again when they see how far ahead of them I am and they go back to conflict.

If you read the post about 'hate' you'll see that it's per action. To get a NAP with HF (as the Resistance) or other factions except for Servants, keep raising your standing with them. For every trade, it doesn't matter if you give them $10k as a 'generous' trade or $100k as a 'generous' trade, you'll get the same amount of standing points. I forgot how many standing points acceptable vs generous are, but keep giving them just a $1 more or 1 resource more to make the trade 'generous' to raise your standing by a set amount per trade. Depending how much in the hole you were with the standing, it may take 5-10 consecutive trades and can be done quickly with 5-6 councilors doing the trade per turn. I've come back from war status with the Initiative with about 12-15 trades of $10k to a NAP status (which didn't last long).

That seems much more expensive than just killing all their agents
