I've succeeded in taking over Russia and Japan, getting plenty of boost, setting up habs, and... waiting. Because I don't have techs available to start building mines, and the other factions keep launching useless techs in the global research, and... that seems about it.
What should I be doing while I'm waiting for solar system colonization tech? I've maxed out my nation control points, my assets are defended, rival assets are too well defended to be worth picking off (especially since I can't keep them)... I just don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing after the initial control rush phase.

Edit: I did figure one thing out. In order to control a global research slot, wait until the other factions complete any item and pick a new one. Then pour all your research into whatever that item is so you can pick the next technology in that slot.
I don't see any benefit in spreading out research points between techs; it seems like pouring everything into one is always the better choice. The game probably should impose a penalty for this in a future update.
The guide says "A good starting point is about 40-60 Boost" but how would you ever get that amount? I have multiple countries under my control with spaceports but I only get about 1 boost a year. Some assistance in the guide for building up your countries would be helpful.
My guess is that those countries you have are in a Federation, which splits Boost up among its members according to the size of their economy, so if you're not controlling the larger members you're going to miss out on a lot. This is particularly important for Kazakhstan, since Russia will take almost all of its Boost, so you either need to control Russia as well or you need to get them to leave the EAU.
From what I've seen, you can use the Priorities to adjust spending a million different ways for each country including prioritizing boost but the results happen over time so its hard to see if I'm making good choices.
