How much boost?
Is there some way to see how much boost it will cost (or at least some way I can calculate it myself?) to send/build something somewhere, BEFORE I actually have the option to build it there?

Example, I have sent a probe to Mars, its going to be a while before it gets there, when it does, I want to have enough boost saved to put down a Hab to claim whatever spot(s) I want(first to send the probe), But, I don't know how much I will need, becasue as far as I can tell, nothing in the game tells me how much boost it will cost per unit of materials (assuming all sent from earth for now) when sending to mars.

I assume its a different cost than sending the same to the moon, which I can see the cost for right now, because I can build there. but I want to know how much I will need to have saved up to send stuff to mars as soon as I can.
That way in the mean time, if I have more than I will need, I can use it on other things, otherwise I just have to save up all my boost until I know how much it will cost, which could mean either wasting time having it do nothing for me, or waiting just to find out I need more to do anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Edit:
So far what I see is that building in earth orbit, boost cost is 1:1 for space resouces needed.
Building on moon is about 4.5x need, building in moon orbit is about 2.67x

So far seems like upkeep for everything moon inwards if paid for in boost is 1:1 (is all boost upkeep going to be 1:1? or will it go up for further places like mars, etc?)

Oh also, how do I read the Earth Launch window info on an object?
It gives a date, and a number and a coloured arrow(in this case for Mars: Dec 7 2024, +44%, green down arrow)
What does this mean?

I get that launch windows are better timing for getting to a place from earth, saving either(both?) Time/Boost needed to get there.

But how do I read this? shouldn't a window be a length of time? or is it literally a single day? +44% what? speed? boost? does this mean its actually a bad time right now?
There is no tool-tip for it, and I didn't notice anything about it in the codex

it depends on your research ive noticed for basic things ten some times 5 but for bigger things up to 70 you want a space station over head or in the region that can build things in space makes it way faster and cheaper sorry cant tell you more im still learning myself for your basic hab plan on at least 60 it will be more expensive if you put a miner but well worth it

i think the +44% might be build speed

Usually the tooltip says how much boost is required, but that doesn't help in the few situations where there is no tooltip (like before a probe reaches a planet).

Yeah, and thats what i'm looking for here.
It'd also be great if the tool tip had some math showing the why it costs this much, especially if the cost can (which it sounds like it does) change, based on if you are in a good transfer window or not.

Yeah this needs to change. It would be much less confusing if the button and tooltip were always visible, just disabled, with a message explaining why it's disabled.

The date is the next "perfect" time to launch to that object (fastest time to arrive). The number is how much extra time it will currently take based on the current date, and the arrow is green if the number% is getting lower, red if it's getting higher. So if you just missed the launch window, you'll have a low number% with a red arrow - once you are the absolute farthest away, it'll turn green and start counting back down to 0% (launch window) again.

The Found Platform button bottom center will show you how much boost is needed even when its greyed out... Because you need to send a probe first...

If you got to Intel -> Prospecting tab then hover over some icons there it should show a tool tip with details on ow much boost it would cost to build say a mining base.

Good info, thanks, but on my screen It's the Solar System tab.

Im assuming you are both right, and its the Solar system tab, Of the intel tab.

sooooooo, if it says, for example, 44% with a green arrow, i'm at nearly the worst time to launch from earth?

also, what if i'm trying to figure the best launch window from mars, ceres, or another body? I know there's the Transfer Planner in the Intel pane but it doesnt tell you much about optimal launch windows, just currently available ones.

Does launch window also affect boost needed to build modules on or around mars?
Will it be more if im in a bad wtime? or just take longer?
