Mercury Solar Power Thoughts

In game solar power scale with distances from the Sun. You can get insane amount of electricity power from solar farm on Mercury and its orbit (60 for a level 1 solar panel).

What about giving player some options that transfer energy to the Earth via microwave laser to solve the energy crisis? Even more tho we can weaponize it, using solar panel to cover most Mercury surface/orbit, turning into a planetary giant laser cannon to target alien invasion fleets entering Sol. Also it can be used as an advanced strategic weapon for glassing the Earth surface.

Might be cheaper to build a giant magnifying glass somewhere around Mercury's orbit? Then just focus it on anything that needs to be made hot

If we're staying on hard Sci-fi - that's very inefficient (both because utterly expensive & will have huge losses of energy).

Despite solar panels are extremely effective on Mercury orbit the energy they provide in game is nothing in comparison with you can get on Earth with, for example Nuclear Power Plants or other conventional generation.
