Random Nuclear Winter ?
Hey guys, I had a point in something like in 2024 where the planet turned slightly grey, and I've got the steam achievment for trigerring nuclear winter...

Indeed aerosols did increase by a decent amount, and it lasted for something like 6 months, but the thing is... there was no nuclear bombs ?
Yeah there was one, because I tringered North korea to waste theirs on south korea army, but it did not much to the aerosol stat. then there was a methane erupting, but that was methane, not aerosols.

Only thing I can see is something like a volcanic eruption somewhere in the world ( maybe an event trigered for the AI ?) but shouldn't we get informed of such things ? that's not something easy to hide....

I had the exact same thing happened. It was after a play through where I nuked the Ukraine and the next play through had a nuke winter with 0 nukes going off

Volcanoes can cause "nuclear" winters.

And there's your problem right there. As soon as one gets launched, the rest will follow.

same thing happened to me. No volcano, no nukes dropped. Just a random Nuclear Winter.

Nah, that was just self defence from North Korea, no one send nukes after that for a while ( until WW3 in 2026 but that's another story).

I think the AI can trigger the volcano event just like you do. But you should be informed about that. Right now, you just tak a nuclear winter out of nowhere without any explication.

A lot of things this game does is completely unexplained
I had a volcano trigger a nuclear winter I guess cause I got the achievement too.

Got it as well. Achievement triggered on one of my first few games, but nothing happened during the games. I was very confused.

Yeah its likely a volcano.

I don't know how the game decides what to show you, for me, I got a notification about it on the side, no pop up, I think you get told if you have a control point in the naton it happens in. if not.... you don't?

I'd also be goo dif those other natural disaster events actually said what they did mechanically.
So there was a big wildfire in Austailia? Why should I care? what did it actually do?
Hurricane hit some small nation? Again why do i care? (maybe I should, but right now there is no way to know)

There was a lot of nuclear testing going on in my game, but no formal nukes were launched yet (EU asked for it, damn it!) and I got a nuclear winter. My general guess is that this happens because of a mixture of unseen faction activity, xenoforming, and government nuclear testing.
