Great game but the roll system feels very cheaty
Pretty much as the title says, I would prefer a completely random roll system even if it meant I got unlucky sometimes. The roll system in this game is incredibly cheaty, or am I suppose to believe that a counter roll always lands within a couple of % of my councillors mission predicted success score...

It makes a mockery of the system, even if my councillor has a low 10% chance the counter roll always lands within a few % of that. It feels more like 50/50 even if you have 97% chance of success it's 50/50 whether the system will choose to go higher with 98%.

Is that what this system is under the hood? Just a higher or lower simple predictor?

No. It works completely fine. 10% means fair 1/10 chance.

Except that isn't how it works though and why would you ignore everything I wrote and hyper focus on the 10% which was an example. I think you mis-understand what I'm concerned about here. I don't care about winning or loosing, more that the current description of the system does not make sense to some who plays a lot of tabletop stuff.

Loosing 2 x 92% missions in a row, with each counter "roll" getting precisely 98% does not sound like a chance roll system to me. It seems very fixed under the hood. Which if that is the case, fine, but I would prefer if it was described or broken down better as a different system. Right now it seems to imply it's chance % based but it does not work out that way.

Because it's wrong.

It's a chance roll. Most of the time, a 70+% roll succeeds. Then there's the failing at 95% twice.

Just because the chances of something is improbably small, doesn't mean its impossible to happen.

Maybe your councilor is compromised. They fail on purpose then.

I had a roll fail with 98% chance, When it brought up the box it said I had a 97.9% chance and I rolled a 98. feels bad man
