Unlocking The 60fps Cap
Hi All, I have searched pretty much everywhere online/Youtube on how to unlock the 60fps cap in RDR2 but have come up with nothing. I've tried the Vulkan/DX12 switch, tried to play around with the NVIDIA driver but I have nothing. Every other game has an unlocked fps but my favourite game is locked to 60fps.

Someone please help or guide me!

Thank you.

anyone locked to 60 fps, turn off vsync, vsync caps framerate. if that doesnt help you have a program locking your fps in all games. if thats the case check your gpu software clients settings (adrenaline/nvidia control panel)
The in-game VSync doesn't lock you to 60 FPS. But it's needed so the cut scenes and animations work as they are supposed to. I know it does not lock the full game fps because if I disable any over rides in NVIDIA Control Panel the game goes up to 160 FPS in some spots even with the in,game VSync and Triple Buffering enabled.

If you want to further control screen tearing, FPS sync or max limit, do that via NVIDIA Control Panel and DO NOT use or let GeForce Experience change anything for this game.

This game doesn't like it when you use more than one display at a time. Normally you can run unlimited FPS and very high refresh rate. I recently got an Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop after my custom built desktop died on me. I hooked the laptop up to my 32" monitor and now I'm stuck at a locked 60 FPS. I can't change refresh rate anymore. It just doesn't like it when you use a secondary display. You want to only be using a single display if you expect higher FPS and refresh rate. That has been my recent experience anyway.
That must be a Laptop issue. I've always been using 2-3 screens and didn't have a problem with this game because of that. Right now using 1440p (21:9) and 2160p (16:9) with game running on the 1440p screen above 100Hz, game set to Borderless, no problems with FPS

laptops are definitely different...i check task manager and see intel integrated graphics running with my nvidia rtx 4070 wtf? lol

the bios splash screen is animated with sound and the bios updated itself...i never seen that before on desktop

I should mention that G-Sync is enabled in NVIDIA Control Panel just in case that might be causing any issues. idk

oh yeah i always have this game set to full screen also so that could also potentially be a cause of difference...this is my first time owning a gaming laptop so i'm still getting used to it

Cause all Laptops like that, everything the Laptop does has to use the Intel GPU as a frame-buffer to reach the screen. Nothing connected directly to the dedicated GPU in a majority of all these Laptops.

I figured it out. I had to disable G-Sync. I didn't have this issue until I plugged in a second display. It was working fine on a single display. With a second display the refresh rate setting was grayed out even when the game was set to full screen.

I lock my at 60 FPS and I'm perfectly happy with it, RDR2 on PC already comes unlocks FPS.

Mine is not unlocked which is frustrating.

How many Hz is your monitor? Do you have vsync on? The game has always had an unlocked framerate.

I'm playing on my TV and it's 200Hz/100 motion rate. I usually do but I've played around with that, too.

As mentioned, RDR2 is the only game that locks me at 60fps.

Cause your TV is 60Hz (200Hz is generally fake, done by the hardware for the TV set top box, nothing more). 4K TVs that are 120-144Hz are super expensive, so IDK where you get this 200Hz crap from. It's fake. Plus TVs use HDMI so unless the TV is basically the latest and greatest with HDMI 2.1; yea it's 60-120Hz at most.

My friend, not too sure why you are still replying. I mentioned, and was grateful, the problem was rectified.

I don't know why you are antsy about what FPS/Hz my TV has especially when I didn't even mention what TV I have. It's all good, though. Problem solved.
I had the same 60 FPS lock problem.

All my graphics options are max out on HIGH and i'm running two monitors at the same time. VSYNC and Triple Buffering OFF and FULLSCREEN turned on. Apparently, running two screens and playing on WINDOWED mode caused the problem. FPS is now at 100.

If i want to use my second monitor i hit ESCAPE to get back to the main menu otherwise the game automatically switches back to WINDOWED mode when using ALT TAB.
