I remember there use to be a public execution the first time you enter into Valentine. I always tried to save the guy and never pulled it off.

Was this event removed by the devs? I never seem to come across it anymore on a new play through.

the public execution, as far as i remember, is one of the two bounties or the random encounter with the prostitute and dead guy in the saloon, to trigger it i think you have to have completed at least two of the three (could be wrong) and have visited the town a few days later. It could be bugged, because i have yet to see it just happen in that order, it is random and sometimes it doesn't happen and the criminals set to be executed in the jail stay there till you move camp.

Iv seen it a few times on a few play throughs, so i know it happens after a bounty is completed.

RDR2 has its issues, so who knows you might easily break it by leaving the town, progressing the story to slow or fast, or fast traveling before it happens and it skips.

I'll keep that in mind this time around and see what happens. I could be wrong, But I don't recall doing any of that and seeing it. You're right though, the event triggers are frustratingly elusive. Wiki says it's a random encounter, but I don't seem to find it anymore.

Pretty sure you have to at least do the Javier mission at the Saloon first; where you fight the big guy Tommy.

The first guy who gets hanged in the town is already at the Valentine jail when you first enter. Usually after a full couple days go by you can see him get hanged in the late morning / early afternoon. With a wife there crying. You didn't put this guy there. He's already there once the gang settles in at Horseshoe Overlook.

Usually the next to be hanged is the Saloon Prostitute; if you trigger her side quest, which should happen after you do mission with Uncle, taking the ladies into town. Then doing the mission with Hosea which introduces you to the Stables and Legendary Bear hunt. Her side quest will only trigger between approx 10pm - 2am or so when you are back in Valentine area.

I have doubts that all are going to run into many of the side quest's.

Just recently ran into the one where a dude want's you to steal cash from someone staying in the hotel in Valentine.
Though I'd heard about this quest before, first time I ever got it to trigger was just a couple days ago. And I'd played this game to the end about half a dozen times.
Was beginning to think that quest was a myth.

Screwed up and shot the dude in the hotel and had to run for my life.
Have yet to encounter the quest giver again.
Not that I was going to give him his cut anyway,
as I think the bounty was more than the cash recovered?

Was fun even though it was intended to be a punch not blow the dudes head off.
Controls, gotta love them sometimes.

I have NEVER run into that one. Every play through there's something new it seems. I've got over 1400 hours into this game on Story mode alone.

Of my multiple play throughs, the hanging was always a regular occurance across all platforms.

If you take breaks in between most missions and explore you'll often run into most of the available side quests. But also note some won't reveal themselves until it's a certain time of day and such

i just had this happen on my current play through. So it is still there. The prostitute thing is completely separate.

Part of RDR2's replay-ability is how many crazy random events happen. That detail you came across was a totally random thing that just happened to occur and like many of the conversations around camp and other places, it may not happen again for a very long time.

When the game first came out people were showing conversations & details that people were still finding years after its release. Its part of what makes the game so cool I think, you get the ability to experience moments that may just stay special to you when you experienced it.

I once had an encounter when I was camping right outside of Saint Denis. A bunch of mounted lawmen showed up and told me to leave since they didn't like folks like me. You had an option to tell them you will or start a fight. Never had this happen again despite regularly camping outside of Saint Denis.

Oh yea there are plenty of encounters to be seen and you generally will never see them all doing a single play-through. Which is the whole point really. Many are triggered only in certain times at certain places or areas. Some may be due to things you've done in the past and such. Some are based on where you are, either Story Chapter in general or during an in-between period with your story missions progression.

I've not ran into that one either. I was riding along leaving Saint Denis once and had the lemoyne raiders pull out a gatling gun on me. That caught me completely off guard and I bit the dust, haha.
