My horse just changed?
I was coming out of Saint Denis and the game decided to be really foggy so I couldn't see anything. Got ambushed by the Lamoyne raiders because of course. They had a maxim gun but it was in the fog so I couldn't see it and they killed me.

Now they're very specifically killed ME and not my horse, I know this because it ran off and was still upright and running by the time the game cut to the DEAD screen. When I respawned, my horse had changed to a all brown Tennessee walker, with the exact same mohawked mane and short tail with the same colors in them as my horse, and it was just called "Horse"

This ever happen to anyone else? A way to fix it and get my horse back? I was attached to him :c

I was just doing auto saves because I've never run into too many problems before and was just being lazy, last save is after I respawned because of course.

what is your favorite era of chinese history?
also.. we built the great wall. it's the silk road.
it was basically the "amazon" of those times and vendors would pitch shops along the silk road "the wall"

because your traditional architecture feng shui is found nowhere on the wall..
it is 100% ROMAN. that's my wall buddy.

do they talk about this in china? most people don't know this stuff.
they think chinese people built the great wall. they may have been chinese laborers..
but that design is roman.
and it has fortifications on both sides to protect the trade route.
if it was yours, it would only need fortification on 1 side...
also the pacing between each tower on the silkroad/great wall is measured out in roman miles. which i think are 5000 roman feet, or about 4850 imperial feet.
it's ours. and the great wall is a piece of the silk road.

rome is forever.

Thank you for this post, you made me take a deep dive into the Great Wall and it's history. I now know a lot more than I did before, thanks to you. I also now know that everything you claim or state in your post, is totally devoid of any truth.

What I don't know, is whether or not the post is totally in jest, and the actual relevance to the OP.

I'd just lasso a new horse, give it the name of the old one and pretend nothing happened.

I came here for help because it happened to me as well and I leave this thread even more confused..

Dude create manual saves asap. More than one. Your going to play a game you can put hundreds of hours and trust one single autosave file?

Don't feel bad . I've been confused since like 1997 , you get used to it.

When your horse changes to the all brown one, trust me, the one you had before is dead. Otherwise it would not spawn that one for you.

You must manually save every so often. never rely on the autosave. It can easily get corrupted along the way.

I really don't think it did. Like I said it was upright and still running when I got the dead screen and then the all brown horse strangely had the same exact mane and tail style and color.

It was as if my horse just mutated randomly. Pretty sure it was a glitch otherwise I wouldn't have bothered asking.

Yes, because the last time I had played RDR2 on PC a year or two ago it wasn't this unstable.

I don't even get why you think it's a problem.
The problem is YOU relying ONLY on that Autosave.
Never do that. Start over and manually save often as you progress. Especially when you have a bunch of stuff (Animal Pelts / Corpse) on back of your Horse. As you will lose all of that if you die or surrender to Police.

What Chapter were you on?
You could just grab another save file and use that.

Thanks, but that's really not pertinent to the question, so if you have nothing that can answer my question then move on.

That makes no sense. A game being stable has nothing to do with corrupted, lost, or even just ill-timed autosaves.
