Wardrobe > Outfits section > highlight the one that says Custom and then press Save.

Once saved, go to the Saved Outfits and then select ones you want to be available via your Horse Saddle.

In Story Mode you can only save 4x Custom Outfits.

A horse saddle will hold 5x maximum if you apply Upgraded Saddlebags first.

What about outfits that are from mods?

Use the trainer to apply and change those.

Once you do though how do you save it? It seems it does not keep the changes. When you die or change outfits and then go back the clothing items are gone.

Can anyone help?

Unless the trainer has an option to do that. Really you shouldn't need to save em like horse stored outfit presets since when using a trainer you can easily switch clothing items anyways.

But not all trainers will have the same options. Look up Lenny's Trainer for RDR2 on Nexus Mods as most mods call for you to use that as a requirement anyways

It's a bug. Custom outfits will disappear from horse sometimes. (Looks strangely random occurance.) Very annoying, but unavoidable. (Has something to do with getting on/off horse.)

Same sort of glitch as when equipped weapons suddenly are not being carried on your body anymore. Quite irritating when you didn't realise that, and suddenly enemy or huntable or aggressive animal shows up.

Stiil, if you realise it can/will happen, game stays very playable.

(Sorry, missed your Modquestion, but I have no idea how Mods work with custom outfits)

Well its annoying to go through the trainer and all the clothing options everytime you die just to get the oufit back on again that you want.

I dont mean the horse only. In general I cannot save the outfit. As in it removes the item I added to the outfit

It's not a problem from what I've seen.
Make sure you use Upgraded Saddle Bags so you have 5 horse slots of outfits. But only load it up with 4 outfits. This leave the 5th slot open as it needs to be because the game needs that slot for Custom Outfit when you put a face mask on, remove gloves or hat.

I think you may be misunderstanding what I am trying to do. I use a mod/trainer to make a custom outfit. I want to then save this outfit at the store/outfitting station. However, when trying to save the outfit it does not register the clothes I put on using the mod/trainer. So when I choose the outfit again, or die, I go back to wearing whatever I had on before.

Yea I already said you can't do it that way. You have to do it from the trainer, cause the trainer is selecting all sorts of clothes from other files. The Wardrobe is not going to work for those.

What is the saveoutfit button for the trainer?
