Haven't played in a while. RDR2 won't load. No support for Win 7/8??
Every time I try to launch the game I get an error code that they no longer support Win 7 or 8 and I'm using Win 11. There's no option to play in compatibility mode and running as Admin doesn't do anything. How are people playing this? lol Does anyone know a work-around or a way to play? I'm 16 and don't have 70 bucks to spend on a game I already bought. TIA !

Try validating the game files.
Restart Steam from full exit.
Restart your PC.
Is the windows 11 registered / validated ? to you or someone else?

When I upgraded to windows 10 from 7 Steam immediately upgraded my system info to windows 10.
What does it show from the top HELP>system information.
Whose computer are you using since your 16. Are you on your dads or family member?
Is this computer registered to Steam?

Using compatibility modes on the R* launcher exe's, or steam exe can cause same/similar error since R* removed Win7/8 compatibility. Just some things to check as this has been a pretty common thing since R*'s update. More info / directions in link -

tl;dr - remove compatability mode checks on R* launcher .exe's and steam .exe.
Restart any of them if open. Force close them if stuck open or restart pc and try again.

/goodluck

I did restart Steam but I'm not sure what you mean by full exit. I closed Steam, restarted my computer and tried again with no luck. Windows 10 came with my computer when I bought it and it upgraded automatically because I set it that way. I believe it's validated to my then. If you mean my system info, it shows the latest windows 11 update on my os. It's my computer. I'm homeschooled so it's important that I have my own. I do believe this computer is registered to Steam. I've played it earlier this year with no issues and I bought it through Steam to play along with other games like Farm Simulator. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

I unclicked the compatibility to Win 8. I'll read through the link you gave me, thank you. Ohhh, I didn't check the R* launcher though, just Steam. I'll do that to, thanks.

This could be related.
Both version 22H2 of Windows 11 Home and Pro and version 21H2 of Windows 11 Enterprise and Education and IoT Enterprise will be going end of life on the 8th of October, 2024.

If you see the 23H2 update available, click Download.
Go to Settings, select Windows Update, and click the button for "Check for Updates." Microsoft will download and install the latest updates, which will include 23H2.

If you fail to update Windows 11 to version 23H2, you may want to check if your computer has enough space to download, unpack, and install the Windows update files.

My windows 11 was completely up-to-date before all this happened. I had seen that people downloaded 24H2 so I tried that but no luck either. I downgraded my win to 10 to see if that helped and at first it did but now it's running into the same problem again. This is so frustrating. I love this game and was excited to play it again. Maybe I'll try to update win again and see if it works. At least that way I'll still be in the 10 day window to roll it back if I have to. Thank you for taking the time to try and help, I appreciate it.

Thank you. I had seen that, but I was running Win 10 so I didn't think it would be a problem for me. Spoiler alert. It did. Thank you for your comment!
