Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2

View Stats:
Online can be played as Single Player DLC
With the influx of crashes and hackers, i will say this:

Online as an Online or PVP game is not very good, this is already well known.
However, if you use the startup.meta file and lock yourself into a private server forever then suddenly, you are playing your own story version of RDR2.

I mean you set up your own camp, slowly develop it and add to it. You can get a pet dog, you have hobbies such as treasure hunting. You can choose your own job, you have to remember to buy clothes for each season and climate and feed yourself. You certainly miss out on the lack of a player voice actor however this is minimal in the long run.

Money really makes more sense when you look at it this way and even tho things are still very expensive, you don't really need 90% of it anyways it's just added extras which is similar to real life.

No AFAIK as you are still connected to a server it is just a private server and therefore, requires internet.

Ah ok, maybe there is some mods for that out there though, would love to be able to continue play "online" in offline mode even if server would someday shut down. Same for GTA 5 Online after GTA 6 release.

But why do you want to play the online specific version, with no internet connectivity? And where are you going that you don't have internet connectivity on your PC?

No bank robbing no train robbing, no horse rustling, no shop robbing, no poker, can't rent a room, can't buy a meal, different currencies for things makes no sense, your hair and beard don't grow, I could go on and on.
Online in a private lobby is a very poor relation to story mode and hugely disappointing. I really wanted to fashion my own story as a custom character but there's not much left to fashion a story around.
A single player sandbox, set in the story world but without the stuff specific to Arthur would have been amazing. It's a crying shame that we instead ended up with the Frankenstein's Monster that is RDO.
All that aside, RDR2 remains a masterpiece.

Yes but you can do all of this in story mode so would why they re-add it to online as DLC as i originally described?

thanks for the info I recently ran across the startup meta file video thing and I got it working but have not spent but about 15 seconds in online mode I guess I could start a new character sounds like its worth it .. for some reason I'm doing story mode now and piddling around even though I have completed story mode and have at other times redone it and piddled around .. One of the things I do not is when I run across a guy out camping I bum rush em they get a shot off and I hog tie em this does not affect my honor then I steal some stuff which does not affect honor just to see what they have ... as long as I dont loot the person ..

If you are like me, and played through the story and explored every inch of the map, then moving on to Online in the sense i described above is very nice. It allows you to get more game time and also gives you something to work on and build towards

Because just like you said, not everything there is online oriented, and it's more of a like your own story with your own character instead of just Arthur/John.
And in regards to internet connection, it's in case that Rockstar might decide to shut down online servers at some point, so you could play without it or atleast emulate the server on your PC.
i cant play online without startup.meta.
no like literally i cant. I tried to remove it for a while just to fk around with actual players but the game wasn't loading for some reason. once I put the startup.meta back it started working again. this was quite some time ago maybe its fixed maybe not I kind of lost interest in online a while ago.

I mean GTA V servers are still online and that game is much older than this so there's not much likelihood of that happening in the next 5 years and tbh if you haven't gotten your fill in 5 years then that's on you
